It’s kinda wild that 3 months ago was Labor Day and in 3 months it’ll be March.Time flies when winter gets cancelled.

Sun is out now, an unusual occurrence this week. Temps are climbing into the adequate range as well. Approval stamped.

Is unfortunate its at the temp max of the day, would probably be a lot easier to get snow into the urban areas if it was timed 12 hours sooner or later. Still exciting to see!
Verbatim, it's a decent amount of white rain, but a few small changes in timing or the sharpness of that trough and we could pick up a slushy mulch-topper.

Lol, it’s a sweet run. Very close to a solid storm.Temps up top are actually pretty damn good. Just sucks that we're trying to make up for the upcoming mild-up on the ground.

GFS coming in with a medium range opportunity early Wednesday morning. Something trackable at a reasonable timeframe. Let’s do it.
I was about to post this. Trough digs nicely and is trying to get that low under us. If temps can cooperate, we might be onto something.

Hour 606 is definitely ripping snow as the low deepens off Norfolk.

New England completely lost that 938 Blizzacane from 18z yesterday...and it was only two weeks out! I can't even imagine what this place would have done had that been us.

Plus Decembers in Ninos are usually mild and the least snowy month? Last December we had a pretty canonical Niña cold pattern the second half of that month and we got boned in the snow department.
Get outta here with your education and rational talk!

Looks like panic room will be rocking with the chatter this morning.
I haven't looked, but let me guess...someone mentioned a nearly perfect track rainstorm and people are jumping?

This is *exactly* what we need to see for any chance at snow this winter. A stout western ridge in Canada and split flow undercutting everything over Baja. Until this shows up, we're cooked. Hopefully we can get some Atlantic blocking to really lock everything in place.

NWS predicted high today was 37. Both IAD and DCA have already reached 42/43.
AGW strikes again.
Or maybe it was just a blown forecast.

Winter is honest to God the most dumb time of year on AmWx. After trying for years to use humor to redirect conversation I just can’t take it anymore.
The shared love of wx and nature, and the continued contributions of good people are the only things that keep me around.
Totally agreed, and I'm feeling more strongly about it every year. I accept that I'm becoming more of a curmudgeon as I'm getting older, but I don't think that's the only reason I'm getting more and more annoyed while on here during late fall and winter.
Spring and summer are so chill. No expectations, no one's lives are in danger due to lack of snow, we get the occasional thunderstorm, lots of talk about summer swim...it's just *nice*. Maybe some bitching about heat and dry conditions, but it's not all that bad!

Hope we can get that Pacific jet to relax sooner rather than later. I'm worried it's going a lot longer than modeled to spin down and we just burn through peak climo just trying to reshuffle everything.
Of course you are.
Or you're not and you're feeling the need to get a reaction.

If we need to wait to mid Jan to get on the board then just about every snowfall forecast is in serious trouble.
