The HAARP conspiracy theories have begun.

5.8 is probably pushing some of the limits for building integrity. The newer ones are ok, but I would think anything larger than a 6.0 would be a real problem.
Wife and I went out for a walk with the dog earlier and saw quite a few chimneys that lost some bricks and/or mortar, and a few that will need a pretty good overhaul. I'd agree that it was pretty close to big enough to cause some real problems this close to the epicenter.

Not seeing it either. But my wife and I both definitely felt it.

We can use you to predict quakes!
Either predict or create. Pick your poison...

It's funny - I was talking to a friend and we were wondering how many people were on the crapper when it hit.
Third quake I've ever felt, and the second time I've been on the hopper for the occasion.
I have talent.

I was outside and some how missed the 4.2
I was on the toilet and I definitely felt it. No mistaking one thing for the other.

My building actually swayed. At first, I thought it was someone moving furniture or something above us, but as soon as I felt the movement, I told everyone to "get the hell out!"

Note to self: next time earthquake hits... don't be in a building in Baltimore
Or in a shabbily constructed converted dorm on a government installation.
Not a comfortable feeling at all. But cool.

East Cost weenies. I'm a transplanted Californian. That was nothing. Everyone go back to work. In 1989, in the Loma Prieta, I was working downtown and almost had a ceiling tile kill me while I hid under a desk.
Shut yo face. That was nuts.

That was pretty f***ing awesome.

Great images, everyone. Nothing wrong with living in the past.
And how many of us will pitch a tent if we get another Nino year with megablocking and see a strong southern stream storm brewing on the models? It might not be wise to fall for that trap, but it'll be so hard not to...

This is a great thread already. I don't have anything to contribute other than stories, but it might be neat to read stuff posted chronologically.
I'm still amazed at how easily the storm happened. We didn't have to sweat except for the expected weenie freakout during the lull.

Someone on a sports forum I frequent said "a signal was sent moments before the earthquake..."
Awesome. I love it.
