Ugh. Speaking of torture, where's Mattie with his correction fluid?
Are you referring to beer?

Long-term trends have me thinking that the sun will stop producing sunspots in the next 20-30 years, leading to quite a few good winters in these parts. Then the rubber band will snap back and the sun will explode in hellish fury that sends out flares large enough to envelop the earth. Nobody will experience good winters after that.

It’s sunny and really warm in Richmond right now. Like a nice summer day.

I’d like to make a rule that all weather talk should be banned from banter. I’d also like to make a rule that all fun be removed from the world.

It’s kind of dreary. The temps are nice and all, but I’m starting to tire of rain.

October snow sucks for every reason one could think of. Let’s give it a miss.

Yeah, and I probably exaggerated. It was more like 15 seconds.
Don’t worry. We all do that.

Looks like we picked up about 1.5” in Burke yesterday/overnight. My soaked sponge of a yard claims there was more, though.
Really heavy shower just passed though. Poured for a good 10 minutes, which resulted in rapids rushing down the curbs of our cul de sac.

Mattie is on a tear.
That would be a “teer” tear, not a “tare” tear.

The wettest month in Washington DC history was September 1934 with 17.45" of rain. I assume this had something to do with a hurricane. Washington is already above 5" for this month, with Hurricane Florence on the way. Could Washington DC make a run for the wettest month in history? Could they make a run for the wettest year in history? I hope not, for the sake of all of the millions of people in the Mid Atlantic who have already had floods affect their communities this year. Currently Washington is not too far from the wettest January 1st - September 10th of all time. (45.9" vs 49.5")
You must not have heard the news.
We suck.

Sister-in-law and her family “evacuated” from Summerville, SC to Hilton Head. Tough life.
F*ck’s sake...we can’t get an ounce of help with our kids, but even when she has to evacuate she ends up being able to pawn the kids off with grandma.

Looking like the Aslin Anniversary bash in Herndon on Saturday will be going forward without too much worry.

In most cases I want to experience the most extreme weather event I can. I accept the collateral damage it causes to people and property. Even to myself or my own property. That's my honest opinion. Now let's ride this baby up the Chesapeake...
I’m all about experiencing extreme weather, but F big rains. I have absolutely no desire for that ****e.

Rained hard in Burke for a an hour or so. Sat here watching heavy returns for hours in the afternoon just a few miles to our east, but we eventually got ours.

I’ve never made it to any get togethers, but I’ve always wanted to. Alas, I’m in the family-obligation situation, and fall weekends are always pretty jam-packed.
Hopefully the rest of you can make it!

I was at work when the storms came through... and I don't have a weather station at home. I would guess half an inch? That sound near what you got?
That’s why I was asking you.
My wife said it was an absolute deluge for about 20 minutes, so maybe a bit more. I guess the local cocorahs will tell us.
Edit: Two closest cocorahs reports show 0.22” and 0.95”, the former being just NW of the latter. Makes sense since that boomer was pretty localized.
