  1. Yeah I can never live in the u.p. away from my friends and g/f. Also ,the whole point is getting the big dog in your backyard and moving to have to see it ruins most of the satisfaction. Also this whining and calling out josh is filling in the boring stretch of weather we currently are in.
  2. I didn't remember one storm lol, and I have been a snowbird a lot in past winters so I probably wasn't home for it, and didn't come home for it since 36 hours to get 16 inches doesn't excite me. I never said Detroit sucks or that I don't enjoy snow when we get it. It just sucks to miss out on several big dogs the past 20 years. We go through this every winter. We both like different things but I guess you'll never understand where I'm coming from. You keep repeating the same stats like I don't comprehend that we do better than ChIcago in the smaller events. I guess you can't read your own stats. Just keep wearing those rose colored glasses. 12”+ -- 2 ----- 4 14”+ -- 1 ----- 2 16”+ -- 1 ----- 2 18”+ -- 0 ----- 2 24”+ -- 0 ----- 0
  3. It's just something about getting that big dog in your own backyard. I just get tired of josh turd polishing everything, like Detroit is the best place to be in the winter. Chicago is 10:4 over us in storms 12+ in recent years which backs up my original point. He doesn't get tired of all the mediocre events which is fine. I get it, its not in our climo to get big storms, but the point is its possible and we don't. He just can't admit that we suck at big dogs and Chicago is just in a better location. Instead he just focuses on our mediocre 4-10 events and how we own Chicago in that department. That's like the lions beating the bears in the regular season, then losing to them in the playoffs.
  4. It's a weird feeling today, with disappointment still mixed in. Usually its just a social event day for us in detroit and watch some of the game, but with the lions choking it away, I don't think I can watch today. Still bummed out. It just bugs me to see the 49ers players walking around like they are the shit, when they should've lost to the packers and the lions. I hope the chiefs destroy them today.
  5. Lol once again you're missing the point. Many storms take that path and yes not all are big dogs. The ones that need to track favorable for us, lose energy to coastals, limiting our big dog potential. 4-1 in favor of chicago 16+, and 10-4 > foot. All that needs to be said.
  6. You're missing the point. I stated this isn't a 2 foot snowstorm. But had this storm been more west, it wouldn't transfer and the possibility is there to strenghten and maybe be a big dog. Being in our location, susceptible to transfers, theres no chance unless there's phasing. We've seen many storms take this next storms track and transfer, limiting our snow. The only way is to have phasing and we all know how hard to get a perfect timing full phase it. Areas to our west like Chicago don't have to worry about losing energy to a transfer when they get the big dog potential. We need so much more to align and go right to see that big storm. Also like many have stated, myself included, I would be okay with going 3-5 years with no snow knowing a big dog is gonna happen. It's cool that you'd rather have 5 inches on the ground for a month straight vs getting a potential big dog. Different strokes.
  7. Hour 102 on todays 12z euro run perfectly illustrates why it's so hard for the detroit, indy corridor to get a big dog. You got a strengthening low pressure system taking the perfect track, and then the coastal area steals the energy. This isn't the case with every storm and maybe not with this one but often If this low pressure was 200-400 miles west, it most likely wouldn't transfer and the chicago, grr, peoria corridor and points west could have the possibility of a big dog. Detroit is stuck in the middle of big dog territory. The only way detroit could cash in on 24+ is if there's a perfect phase of the N/S streams to our SE and even then still susceptible to a Miller B scenario. Once in a 100 year thing, sort of like major hurricane Ian hitting fort myers. Sure they've had a few over the years, but none like Ian that crawled along the coast giving them 7+ hours of surge/winds over 100.
  8. Just joking all around. Im sorry my elicit, explicit response was too much for you. Springs lately have been crummy, cloudy, chilly and missing long warmth spells. All I said was I hope this spring is nicer and warmer.
  9. Yup not saying ghd2 sucked or anything. I just didn't recall it as per the reasons I explained. They can dog pile, it's all good. Everyone has different criteria for big dogs and what gets them excited. Long duration events dont do it for me anymore. Also I am not expecting a noreaster 3 foot storm. Just a 2 footer not taking 36 hours. One day maybe...
  10. The only way this winter could be worse is if the i95 cities see a big dog. Miller b looks likely. Not too late to get a more dominant nw trend.
  11. Yea he's not trolling. He's just on the same page as me. Still waiting for the detroit big dog everyone will remember.
  12. Yea that could be why I don't recall this storm. I didnt know not remembering something comes off as complaining. Maybe because it didn't include crazy rates. I will always remember that nye storm in 08 with the 4 inches per hour rates. I will always remember chicago getting more snow than us ghd1/2. Our standards in detroit are so low that I guess we should remember every event over a foot, even if it takes 24 hours to accumulate.
  13. Yea I saw him reference it the other day and thought to myself I don't think anyone was talking about the models that far out. Perhaps he's just excited for trumps return soon and wants to name a storm after him.
  14. Im trying to be a dick when I say Ive lived here most of my life and we've had plenty of warm springs, Mr. born in 1998.
  15. Yea it was warmer than past Springs but still not as warm as I'd like. Hoping for more prolonged stretches in the 60s.
  16. Well when I landed home and checked the weather Saturday, it showed sun all week. I see it's changed to cloudy everyday lol. I will take the warmth though over cold and dry. As already stated, euro all over the map run to run for next weeks potential. At this point, I'm hopeful we get a warm march and april. It's been awhile since we've had a warm spring.
  17. Gfs/euro with something to keep an eye on for next monday/tuesday. Before that though, rare stretch of 5 straight days of sun here in the 40's and maybe even 50's.
  18. For some odd reason I don't recall this storm here in metro detroit. Maybe it was ghd2? I do remember a snowstorm forecasted 3-5 days before detroit hosted the superbowl in 2006. I don't think anything even ended up accumulating.
  19. Man if y'all didn't choke too, would've been a fun nfc championship game in detroit.
  20. I thought being a lions fan was tough, guess I hadn't seen nothing yet. Then they choke for the world to see. Almost everyone in America was rooting for them, except for a few divisional fans. This one's gonna hurt for awhile.
  21. Crazy how detroit broke the precip record for january after today. Who would've thought half of it was probably liquid.
  22. I'd imagine areas along 59 were the jackpot. Funny possibly the biggest event of the winter might be one where 1-2 were forecasted. Did the band just stall out. What did the models miss?
  23. This is probably another one of those events where your area gets two or three more inches than the east side. One of these days I'm gonna take a ride to the hills during an event.
  24. Of course I am out of town for a surprise, overachiever.
