As a cold front sweeps across the area this evening, a surge of strong west-northwest winds will follow. The strongest gusts, potentially reaching 40 to 50 mph in spots, will generally last an hour or less at any given location. Even so, gusts of this magnitude are capable of blowing around lightweight objects, causing localized minor tree damage and power outages, and creating difficult driving conditions for high profile vehicles. The strong wind gusts will reach... The northern Shenandoah Valley and northern Maryland through 1000 PM... The Baltimore and Washington metropolitan areas between 930 PM and 1100 PM... Southern Maryland between 1030 PM and 1230 AM.

Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

  13. WB 30 day Nov. 9 through Dec. 9 from the EPS weeklies. I think this November-December period could be different from last year. I mean, we saw no sustained cold air before mid/ late January last year. The mean looks pretty good and the control shows an extreme in a good way in the long range. At least we may have a chance of some snow before Christmas this year.
