  1. Biggest Metro snow in my lifetime was Veterans Day, November 11, 1987. About a foot fell in thundersnow in less than 6 hours. A 20 minute drive from University of Maryland, College Park to Greenbelt took me 4 hours with cars abandoned everywhere. No one predicted it! I always start tracking around this date.
  2. 39, snow shower with the moon out in Brunswick! Happy Monday!
  3. Heavy wind, sleet/ice/rain mixture on my walk to Union Station , heard thunder as well. Amazing!!!
  4. Yes, I know, ground too warm, sun angle, late March etc......
  5. Sterling pretty bullish for next week... On Monday, disturbances in both the northern and southern streams will start to approach the area. The northern stream trough will be quite dynamic, forcing the development of a large area of high pressure in it`s wake. This high will shift southward in conjunction with the upper trough, driving a powerful cold front southeastward toward our area. The combination of the southern stream disturbance approaching from the Tennessee Valley, coupled with the southward surging cold front could produce precipitation across the area by Monday afternoon. However, the positioning of the front and the resultant chances for precipitation are still rather uncertain six days out. The airmass behind the cold front looks very cold for late March, and wintry precipitation may be possible behind the front, even at lower elevations.
  6. GEFS mean looks good for next week. Place would be rocking if this were a month ago. Let's see if it holds.
  7. The Fat Lady is Singing!!! See you in November!!! It is nice to know that there are other people who get upset over a lack of snow and when Spring arrives....take care all!!!
  8. Not Over Until the Fat Lady Sings....all of the models are showing low pressure in various places middle-end of next week. Enjoy the last 10 days of tracking!!!!!
  9. Brunswick: seem like less has fallen as I have gone NW. pavement still not caved. Nothing to shovel tonight, still pretty sight on the Potomac
  10. Barnesville: still nothing on paved streets: some shady walkways now covered.
  11. Gaithersburg: very wintery like except on pavements
  12. I am wondering if this is my last sniw train ride home this winter....:(
  13. Left white rain in DC on train ride home to Brunswick. Coating on grass as I approach Rockville
  14. I still have not given up hope for the period 18-23rd.....at least we are in the ball park for a shot of something perhaps.
  15. If anyone cares to take a look, WB is showing off their new model page for free (absent ECMWF).
  16. For the snowiest date in March for D.C. and Reagan National, March 29, 1942: 11.5 inches of snow coated the District. That storm also brought over 2 feet of snow in some parts of Maryland and northwestern Virginia, according to WTOP. So it can happen every hundred years or so in late March.....:)
  17. So on my train ride to DC from Brunswick, Point of Rocks the ground is white. Barnesville the ground is patchy white dusting at best. Nothing in Germantown, south.
  18. About 2 inches of slop in Brunswick. Shoveled last night and now a thin layer of ice in everything. Careful walking in Frederick area this am!
  19. Mixed with sleet again in Brunswick. Messy icy mix
  20. Patience not one of my virtues, but it is turned into a winter wonderland in Brunswick....everything snow covered. Maybe couple of inches now. I am happy.
  21. Perhaps an expert can explain it, but it appears the horrible severe weather in the south is robbing us of the ripping rates necessary for any kind of a winter storm here....
