  1. Has anyone noticed how healthy Isaac looks ( not that it's going to affect us )? I really think the National Hurricane center is too conservative with the strength of this storm. I'm wondering if they will revise their wind speed strength in the future as 105 seems wrong from the looks of the storm on radar.
  2. Are you asking to see it, are you saying show something really good
  3. Of course it's going to be BN .. we wouldn't want it any other way... Lol
  4. Lol.. a bit dramatic, don't ya think? All jokes aside.... Imagine how the people in the Pennsylvania, New York Metropolitan area feel ( even where I am which is just west of Hartford ). Snow here has been quite crappy!
  5. I've learned to not expect much, but also expect to expect surprises.
  6. To answer your question about dry for the foreseeable future.... NEXT WEEK... We’ve been forecasting, optimistically, dry weather from the weekend to carry over to next week. That no longer seems to be the case, with a model trend to the wetter. Specifically, Monday now features periods of rain. Thereafter, as we see it now, we can’t rule out a chance for showers Tuesday into Wednesday. The First Alert Weather Team
  7. So I went through both Gloria and Bob. My parents lived in Norwalk when Gloria hit. My brothers and I were standing outside of my parents donut shop taping up the windows. And my brothers and I were standing sideways in the wind while it was holding us up. We had a huge oak tree get uprooted in our yard with a few others that came down as well. When Bob hit, my ex and I drove into Rhode Island, and got stuck there as they closed the borders. Borders. So we found a motel and stayed there while Bob was doing his thing. The winds were pretty strong. We were stuck on a road looking for a place to stay and I remember seeing trees getting just leaving the ground and getting blown across the road. It was pretty intense. But I know back in Connecticut, Bob didn't really do anything at all
  8. It seems the Tropical Atlantic season is not turning out to be a " Way above normal " season. I believe they have already scaled down the amount of storms we should see coming out of the Atlantic. I mean.. we still have 2 weeks left in August, all of September and also most of October...so anything can happen. Just bring on Winter already ( although This winter's also looking to be lackluster ). I believe nothing when it comes to the long-range forecast for winter. Look what's happening already with the hurricane forecast for this summer.... So far it's a bust ( as far as the amount of storms go ).
  9. Chances of this. Making it to the east coast at this point are pretty slim. Course. I'm not saying never or not happening, but very slim. I don't think this is the one.
  10. I know it's of touch, but hoping that La Nina is going to be a weak one and we have a better Winter than in last.
  11. Actually, looking at the current radar, you can start noticing it's shifting back North when you watch the radar loop over the last 2 or 3 hours. I think within the next 2 or 3 hours we'll see a lot of that heavy rain moving into Central And even northern Connecticut
  12. So if they're going to see 7 to 10 up in Vermont, it's gotta be pretty bad here in Connecticut?
  13. I'm still wondering if they're going to expand those flood watches that are along the south southern end of Connecticut into Westchester and New York City. I'm surprised they hadn't brought them North a bit, But between tonight and then especially Friday Saturday there's going to be some flooding going on around these parts
  14. It's looking like we may be affected by that tropical disturbance heading into Florida in the next couple of days. Right now they're looking for that thing to make its way up the coast and become stationary. Sending rain into our area for several days. But that could change. Something to keep an eye on though
  15. I had a nest in the ground of my backyard 2 years ago. There were so many of them. I got a huge pot of boiling water made my way over to where the hole was in the ground and poured it right down the hole. Killed those Bastards. Then I stuffed it with rocks and they were never back again!!
  16. It's funny you mentioned it. I have not seen any myself either. Been to several barbecues and they're usually always there and I've seen not one. It's okay with me. I hate them because they're so aggressive. But strange. On A separate note, I've seen a fair amount of lightning bugs this year. Real nice to see. Reminded me of my childhood
  17. I was up real early this morning around 2:30 and then again around 4:30 and it was sleeting but I woke back again at 6:45 and was snowing. It's been snowing since. At the house we have about a half an inch on the ground. At work now in West Hartford and it's still coming down had a decent clip. Looking at the radar it seems to keep filling in just Southwest of us. So I think everyone north of us will have a good shot of some good snow today. Fun to see. About 33° at home.
  18. Apparently we're supposed to have some wrap around in the morning around 6:00 to 11:00 of some snow. But we'll see how that pans out. Probably more just snow globe look
  19. We're getting rain and sleet here. You can see all the sleet pellets gathering on the deck. It's 36.8 and I'm up at about 500 ft. In Plainville. You can really hear the sleet hitting the skylights. I wasn't expecting this until maybe late late tonight or tomorrow morning
