Funny....it's around 45 here. We are heading to my brother's house down in Orange and it supposed to make it into the upper 60s down there. Warm front is draped right across our State.

This guy is too much. Talk about telling you what you want to hear LOL. Well he has to get it right one of these years. I just read an article yesterday that they are now expecting a lower chance of a La Nina this year than they originally anticipated. Now that would be something good for us in the Northeast. I'd rather it be a La Nada.

Although I do think it's going to be on the milder side, I don't think it's in 70s through next week. Who knows, maybe you'll be right this time. But we should see 2-3 days around those temps

But I'm not sure if there's any type of system that's going to give you any snow like that coming up anytime soon, not from what I'm seeing?

What a storm to track. I am saddened for the destruction that people saw with the Storm Surge, Heavy Winds, Flooding Rains, and Tornadic activity. Not that I am wishing for more, but are the forecast models still trying to bring another Cane into the area around the 17-18th? If so, hoping it's a weaker form, but it would make its way up the coast to give us some rains that we desperately need.

Well, are you surprised by this??? We've had over a year ( maybe more ) of above normal precip. Something had to snap back the other way. Let's hope we get all the dry weather out of the way over the next few months so we can have a normal ( fingers crossed ,, above normal ) precip for later December through March. We shall see.

Looking at the satellite imagery, it seems to me like the storm took a jog to the north a bit in the last few frames. Although you can't really see an eye now with the satellite, the radar really shows that center with a strong closed circulation. So although there may be a little bit of weakening going on, it's not weakening in a way where it's going to be A significant difference

I know I'm not as savvy as some of you on here when it comes to knowledge with the weather patterns, but I've been on here enough to have an idea. I read a really interesting article about the polar vortex being the weakest in 40 years and the effects it may have on the weather in North America. Especially the Northeast. I don't think this was taken into consideration with some of the previous forecasts for the upcoming winter and wondering what your thoughts are. They've already upgraded it to a tropical storm. The storm is moving more on an east/ east Northeast direction.

My best friend lives in St. Pete, and some other good friends of mine live just south of there in Bradenton. I would hope they don't get a direct hit. Even Helene that just bypassed them caused them extreme damage along the coastline. It brought sand all the way in and buried cars and ruined properties right along the outer coastline. As exciting as it sounds to have something hit an area like that..... if you have a major storm come right in on them, it would be devastating for everyone, even many miles inland. Look what Helene did up into North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and of course Florida. It's a catch 22 for me. It's exciting to watch a storm coming in to see what it's going to be like where it hits, but then you think about the people that are affected, and it makes me think twice about watching a storm come in with devastating results. It's tough. When I was about 19 years old, I remember driving into Rhode Island when Bob hit... With most exhilarating experience, I've had being stuck in a hotel as a storm was hitting. Fast forward to now, and I don't think I'd want to do that, knowing what could happen as far as the damage and lives being lost.

Nothing's ever written in stone. The last two years, for example, threw a lot of us for a loop as far as what we thought was going to happen, especially for the lower half of New England and the tri-state area. I think what brings us all back is not only the Passion for The winter season, but also the excitement of the unknown. Just because there is a direction with the models of what is thought to happen for this 2024-2025 season, does not mean it's going to happen, which definitely gives us all hope on what we wish would happen. Phew.... Hope that made sense..lol

So, just a question. You have always been one to hope for warmth during the Winter months. Why come in here and constantly push for warmth/No Snow when you know you are on the " Winter Thread "? It doesn't make sense to me..... Not that I'm unnerved by you, just baffled?

Has anyone noticed how healthy Isaac looks ( not that it's going to affect us )? I really think the National Hurricane center is too conservative with the strength of this storm. I'm wondering if they will revise their wind speed strength in the future as 105 seems wrong from the looks of the storm on radar.

That no longer seems to be the case, with a model trend to the wetter. Specifically, Monday now features periods of rain. Lolol... Starting early I see.

So I went through both Gloria and Bob. My parents lived in Norwalk when Gloria hit. My brothers and I were standing outside of my parents donut shop taping up the windows. And my brothers and I were standing sideways in the wind while it was holding us up. We had a huge oak tree get uprooted in our yard with a few others that came down as well. When Bob hit, my ex and I drove into Rhode Island, and got stuck there as they closed the borders. Borders. So we found a motel and stayed there while Bob was doing his thing. The winds were pretty strong. We were stuck on a road looking for a place to stay and I remember seeing trees getting just leaving the ground and getting blown across the road. It was pretty intense. But I know back in Connecticut, Bob didn't really do anything at all
