  1. Those areas seem to get left out a lot, so it would be nice for them to get in on this one.
  2. And the GFS says areas that miss out on this one (eastern great valley), will get in on the next one.
  3. Para-GFS looks colder: I like when the snow shows up as purple, lol! That run looks good for S. Middle TN:
  4. I did a point and click sounding over N. Roane county for the 8 - 9 storm on the 12z GFS (not the one above): Shows rain, but sounding guesses snow. I'm not super hopeful for my location to see much accum., but would be nice to see some fat flakes flying.
  5. Just an oddball item of interest, but the ICON digs the second storm waaayyyy down into the Gulf. I would love to see that, just to see a low take a track like that:
  6. MRX mentioned a subgeostrophic jet streak in their overnight discussion and I thought it was kinda cool that the NWS explanation for jet streaks: https://www.weather.gov/source/zhu/ZHU_Training_Page/winds/JetStream_Stuff/300_200_chart.htm is similar to what what the Euro is depicting for the Jan 8 - 9 system:
  7. Overnight UKMET: Maybe it just sees the snow as 4:1 ratio type stuff as it falls over most of TN? ]
  8. Yeah the 12z Euro was nice for many parts of the state:
  9. I don't know what algorithm F5 weather uses for precip, but it looks promising:
  10. Looks like I'm 0 - 2 today on predicting the GFS. But, still nice to see big highs trying to drop down consistently.
  11. Maybe this time it will work out better, lol. Looks like the GFS is going for a big storm toward the end of it's run.
  12. Not sure I've ever seen something like the CMC's depiction of the shortwaves: the block is forcing energy over WY to go into UT
  13. Looks like the GFS is going to make an attempt on the second one too. Maybe for more areas.
  14. Kuchera ratios drop 19 on SW VA. A Boone to Wytheville special
  15. Def. some decent hits among the overnight EPS members (all 50 as a gif):
  16. Parallel GFS gave some areas a decent storm around hr 200: I mention it, because it looks like the Euro will have a similar result.
  17. I was talking about both. That Ukie run first got my attention for theTuesday deal (more from an interest in that oddball synoptic evolution) and interest in the Jan 8 - 9 for it's bowling ball potential.
  18. Great pass for the energy, but nary a snowflake outside of I'd say 3000'
  19. Yeah the first bit is more of academic interest, in that I don't foresee it doing much (although you never know). That next one looks bulky.
  20. I'm kind of interested in the energy diving in behind it. It's not really wound up, but the block scoots it such a way as to kinda sorta schmaybe have a negative lean...
  21. Euro has that system too and gets 4 - 6 on Roan. The set up is interesting with the energy diving in from the NW:
