    The GFS had a bit better of an evolution with the low. I mean, it is a good rainer and would be an amazing snow if it happened the right way and we had cold air. But the last few days it has looked soooo strange. More drought denting cold rain! Happy that it seems likely now. Wish things would get clearer in the long-range for more chances, but I think we are going to see some strange outcomes! THANK YOU to the knowledgeable posters for the details and nuances that can be good in the midst of a lot of bad looks.

    Winds from the NW now and down to 50! at 5:23 we were 56! Then the front made temps drop and winds increased from the Northwest!

    Cool to me. Unexpected and happy if we get anything. Would also mean heavy snow despite the melting.

    I think this setup has issues. The High to the North is departing. The air is not that cold. There is a kicker Low in Canada kicking out whatever the Cooler High could bring. The upper-level support is trying to figure out phasing and timing. A little colder (probably a month later) I would think this would be a wintrier start but would easily change to rain. But what do I know!

    DT had a good review of what looks amazing on the Euro going into Christmas and beyond! Pretty nice looking! Hope it comes true. I KNOW WE HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT! But some added support!

    This is why you are missed, Bob! You were a "voice in the wilderness" that had great stuff to share and I learned so much from you! You are right on leaving the group and moving on as it is a time suck and people only seem to hear what they want to hear letting emotion override. I am glad I was part of the group when you posted regularly and continue to miss your insights! Despite this, I would only want what is best for you or anyone else. I agree I am also too emotional a commenter, but the voice of reason helped a lot! Thanks for this post! It was great! Stay healthy and appreciate all you did share in the past! - You are an AMWX all-star in my book!

    Things will shake out! Timing and details on waves and connections will come together if we get the pattern. Trust the process and not the models. We know the elements and what needs to be on the pond to get the ducks in a row. We are in the shuffle period.. I worry like all that the timing will be a mess, but I am hopeful we will see things pan out as we hope. Time will tell... not models! I am very pessimistic that things happen sooner rather than later! Also, that long-range seemed to do the storm track off the coast! But I am certain we have not seen anything close to what will happen, except for some persistent cold not too far away! The dry trend is what bothers me most!

    Your gotta have one to get the other. Maybe it seems like wasted cold but keeping the atmosphere and surface colder can only help our chances. It is frustrating to see wasted cold. I do, however, like winter acting cold and even without snow it is welcome

    Ended up with exactly 1.80 inches. The lake rose and has water flowing into it for the first time in a while

    Trying to get the ducks on the pond. I see the better-looking pattern Saturday/Sunday - Maybe something comes up that is not clear yet. Enjoying the watch as we actually have stuff to watch. May not mean a thing, but not boring!
