  1. I actually feel during snow events they should measure every hour to get a better sense of how much fell before compaction/melting takes too much effect. If it doesn’t rain for the first 30 days of July but 4” falls on the 31st should that not be counted because then it wont show how dry the month was?
  2. Have had a couple hours of decent rates and better dendrites here. Guessing 1/4”-1/2” an hour. I know it’s not really the same system the rest of the sub-forum is experiencing but I’d hate to feel left out.
  3. Pixie dust here all morning. Probably still under or around a half inch, looks to have on/off snow here through Friday.
  4. Mood dust here this morning. We’ll see what we end up with.
  5. I’ll be ready for spring the first week of May when skiing in Minnesota is over the season.
  6. This shows precipitation totals since November 30th ranked all time. Pretty cool representation of where the firehose has been pointed, and why it’s been the 4th snowiest start to winter on record here.
  7. This is a forecaster with the NWS office here. With a handful of 6”+ systems already this year, I won’t mind a week of mood flakes + at all.
  8. We’ve had a few dusting with persistent occasional flurries the past few days but nothing official at the airport.
  9. Been awhile since I’ve checked the ol’ Wrigleyville Earthcam https://www.earthcam.com/usa/illinois/chicago/wrigleyville/?cam=wrigleyville
  10. Looks like some decent banding over the loop right now, shame it’s transitory.
  11. 3.5” today, which is the 6th largest calendar day snowfall of the season in Minneapolis, and brings the season total to 52.5”. Occasional snow showers rotating through this evening might deposit another tenth or two. Edit: Only 0.16” of liquid equivalent today.
  12. There was a correction made to the 6am obs. Airport recorded 2” of snow, which seems more accurate. 1.2” at the noon observation for a storm total of 3.2” with snow ongoing. Oh and we’ve officially surprised our seasonal average of 51.2” currently at 52.1 as of noon.
  13. Minneapolis was always on the far NW fringe of the snow shield for this system. The SE metro will finish around 6” Im guessing. There were numerous 4” reports coming in from that area while up in the city by the airport totals were still around 2” Nebraska deserved this one. They were due
  14. Airport recorded 1.2” as of 6am, but most reports nearby are ~2” including 2.5” at the NWS office. Very small flakes didn’t lead to the productive rates that some of the models had honed in on. Should get an additional 1-2” throughout the day.
  15. Spent some time this evening scraping as much ice and compacted snow off the sidewalk and driveway as I could. The buildup has been bad this winter with the multiple long duration events. HRRR holding serve for a 4-6” thump at msp.
  16. P&C has been upped to 6” imby. Majority of the snow will fall overnight. I don’t think the message has gotten out, most of my coworkers didn’t know we are expecting any snowfall.
  17. We have a 55gal drum half full of water sitting on top of the snowpack this morning. I can’t believe it’s holding, must be a glacier.
  18. Looks like a general 3-5” tonight across the twin cities. Closer to 6” far south and less to the north. This should replenish all we lost to the rain, and give the snowpack that nice clean look again.
  19. 0.7” of snow yesterday. It’s been a very wet January and winter as a whole.
