  1. Arctic Front later today, first temps below zero of the season and potential system fri/sat. Nice to have a bit of an active stretch.
  2. Bummer I’ll be in SoCal. Gotten lucky the last handful of years with AA temps so was due for a clunker in the desert.
  3. Average highs are in the mid/upper 20s for my area come mid December, so a warm and wet pattern might turn out alright imby.
  4. Remaining patches of snow in the yard will get obliterated today and tomorrow. Back to BN temps next week. Lakes are starting to see the annual return of ice fishing shacks, my ski hill has been making tons of snow during this cold stretch. Should be a great day on the slopes today.
  5. Already down to 12F at MSP. If winds weren’t sustained at 30+ and gusting near 50mph we’d drop below zero tonight.
  6. Missed mby by about 5 miles or so, but the ground has been white since Sunday night. Wind might take my hammock away today.
  7. Popped above freezing this morning from compressional warning ahead of the arctic front. 34F. Temps should start dropping in the next couple hours and the winds are going to really get going this afternoon. If we had more then a 1/2” of snow otg there would be a ground blizzard here today.
  8. While this pattern is cold and dry we’ve still managed to sneak flurries/light snow out of any minuscule stratus deck. Eeked out another 0.2” of daytime mood flakes yesterday. 1.7” season to date
  9. 0.4” overnight. Nickels and Dimes this winter so far. We’ve now been below freezing for 7 days. Lakes are completely frozen over.
  10. Morning low of 6F to kick off December. The urban lakes are beginning to freeze over.
  11. Low of 12. Coldest temp of the season. Should drop into the single digits tonight.
  12. Persistent all day flurries/light snow have deposited an aesthetic dusting to set the mood. Officially 0.1” at the airport. Getting a few bursts of moderate snow here and there as arctic air settles in.
  13. High of 25 yesterday. More of the same today. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
  14. Today was the first subfreezing high temperature of the season for Minneapolis. Topped out at 28.
  15. Full sunshine here after around 1230pm today. Temperatures slowly dropped throughout the day. Should have our first overnight low in the teens tonight.
  16. Fell below freezing at 8:35am at the airport. Had some snow showers but nothing accumulating this far south.
  17. Snow chances have fizzled here. Probably just a few flurries is all I’ll see in the headlights tomorrow driving to work at 6am. Always enjoy a good flash freeze though.
  18. The NAM has been trending extending the snow south to brush Minneapolis along the cold front. We’ll see what the Hrrr brings as it comes into range. Might see a quick dusting overnight here before the prolonged freeze begins.
  19. No precipitation signal on the GFS, but my ski hill will be running the snow guns 24/7 and mud season will come to an end. Cold and suppressed is better then ridging and wet for midwest skiers.
  20. 384hr 12z GFS pitches a near precipitation shutout for my area. Frost depths are going to be deep.
  21. Don’t tease the Chicago crew with that reference. What a month to be a kid.
  22. Arctic air means the lakes freeze up and the ski hills can make snow. Hopefully as we get closer the hi-res models sniff out some clippers. Upcoming pattern bodes well for the winter outdoor activity industry here.
