  1. 82/68 here. The difference in how I feel working outside between yesterday and today is remarkable.
  2. 73/66 and some fog. Still elevated dews but it feels a lot better out here today.
  3. The official high today in Minneapolis is 98, same as yesterday. Impressive late season heat wave. Tomorrow will feel refreshing with a forecasted 89.
  4. It was a lock but the 26th 90 of the year has been achieved in Minneapolis.
  5. Getting ready for work. We’ve reached our morning low of…..82.
  6. Maybe someone with experience working with ASOS data can help me out. The airport recorded numerous 5min obs of 98.6F, but the official high for the day is 98. Is there data smoothing/correction that occurs or something else?
  7. 97 with a heat index of 112 at 7pm. I could drive two hours north and it never got out of the mid 60s today.
  8. The record high for August 22nd was 97, so at the least we’ve broken that.
  9. It’s swampy out there this morning. Today will be the 25th day in 2023 above 90 degrees in Minneapolis. Perhaps we make a run at 100 this afternoon.
  10. We appear to be busting low on temperatures for the second consecutive day in Minneapolis. 75/66 with a thick overcast sky. Forecast high temp was 86 today. We’ve made it up to 77 but the temp is bouncing around.
  11. I noticed this weekend besides the usual early maples some of the cottonwoods around town are turning yellow as well. Gotta be drought stress I’m guessing.
  12. Very pleasant morning at 66/52 in Minneapolis. My brother is suffering at 79/73 in Des Moines.
  13. NWS is thinking we might make a run at the all time August temperature record of 103 in Minneapolis on Wednesday. I was surprised to learn it hasn’t been above 100 in August here since 1988. 91/72 currently. We’ve actually underachieved a bit on the warmth today.
  14. 73/48 Smoke is still hours away in NW Minnesota. Give me this weather everyday May-October
  15. So far the smoke has been minimal, leading to a picture perfect day of low 70s, good air quality and breezy. I sure hope it stays this way. First bust on an air quality alert I can remember. I don’t see any major air quality issues in the immediate upstream, but that can change rapidly.
  16. Didn’t see a drop of rain with the passing cold front yesterday. Today would be a perfect summers day if it weren’t for the smoke. Mid 70s and breezy. Upcoming heat wave doesn’t look out of the ordinary. Low to mid 90s but nothing approaching record territory.
  17. Yes they are expecting pretty heavy ground level smoke with the cold front pushing through currently. Looks like that burnt plastic smell will stick around for a solid 48 hours.
  18. 1.38” storm total thus far, mostly winding down but should see on/off showers throughout the day. Ground looks like it could take quite a bit more.
  19. The all time record high temperature in Minneapolis is 108 on July 14, 1936. In 1988 it got up to 105 on July 31st. We haven’t been above 103 since.
  20. Got a good deal of yard work done today. I’ve found 55-70 degrees to be the sweet spot for my job. Quality soak incoming tonight. Should pickup another 0.75” maybe more. Worst of the drought is behind us now.
  21. Definite an early fall feel in the air today. We’ll spend most of the day in the upper 60s with rain moving in this afternoon.
