  1. 6z GFS is certainly not impressive for this area.
  2. I was in Central Jersey for 93. I was 11 years old. I remember a foot of snow followed by warm and rain and then everything iced over. You could walk on top of the snow and it was impossible to move. Guy next door got tired of shoveling and drove his car over the ice mound at the bottom of his drive way and destroyed the car. Blizzard of 96 was a lot better.
  3. You know it’s over when the only people left in this thread are the ones that just enjoy tracking; even if it showers and 60 degree weather.
  4. Yeah; I am in Colonie, just north west of Albany. Very close to Albany airport. We did sleet for a couple hours this morning but now back to snow. Picked up another 1-2 inches. I was expecting this to be over much earlier. It’s pretty awesome just relaxing in the hotel watching it come down. I’d say we have 10 inches.
  5. Feels great to experience a real snowstorm for a change and be in an area that actually gets the snow! I’d say maybe 8-9 inches. A few pingers now but it’s mostly over. Now I’m addicted might have to do another one before the winter is over.
  6. That’s really funny! I guess there are more of us out there than I thought. But not me. I drive a Kia Rio with Delaware tags and no special plates. Unfortunately no weather station. I did tell the hotel I was chasing this storm and they looked at me like I was nuts.
  7. Chased this over to Albany. I’d say we got maybe 6 inches but this storm is in a hurry to exit. I think accumulating snow could be done by 8 or 9am. No way we get 8-12 inches. So it’s nice but it underperformed. Figures.
  8. I am currently in coxsackie New York just south of Albany. Under a winter storm warning and snow emergency. Goal is a foot and no pingers. Perhaps slightly aspirational but doable. excited! After all the mid Atlantic blahs; I deserve this.
  9. I don’t know. I’m chasing with Albany as my spot. Latest has me thinking I might head further north. In a chase; I have zero tolerance for pingers.
  10. Good. Honestly who wants bad icing? If we stay below 32 the entire event; that would have my attention. But the idea we get a warm nose way up into PA would generally mean any ice accumulation would eventually commence with its melting processes.
  11. My old non scientific standard that never fails me, you can worry about getting precip or you can worry about getting cold temps. If you have to worry about getting both, it ain't happening. Not one storm in my life worked out where I had to root for both.
  12. If you are feeling down about this storm; just visit the nyc sub forum. They have hope in there; despite many odds; hope is a dangerous thing with this storm for that area. At least we know the score here.
  13. 7 inches making it down into north central Jersey almost nyc… I doubt that
  14. This season is now like a 40 year old football quarterback. Maybe he gets another good season or two; but the window for greatness is quickly closing.
  15. It seems like the model theme this year is to get a trend slowly to what we want around the 100hr mark and then and huge jump in the wrong direction where it stays locked in. Can’t even buy a 2 inch snowstorm around here.
  16. I might hit both storms. Chasing #1 to Albany. Bare ground; fresh blanket of snow. Drive home to bare ground; storm #2 ; fresh blanket of snow? That might be more fun than I can handle. Exciting. Let’s do this.
  17. Nope. Too far west. NJ got killed but was fringed here. Long duration light snow but only ended with 4 inches on the grass and due to marginal temps at the start; about 2 inches on the street. Not plowable. Still probably the best storm we be had in years. It’s rough down here.
  18. Might not seem like a big deal to you guys but I’m super excited for this storm. Have not seen a plowable storm since 2016 here in Delaware. Mid Atlantic winters are the worst. So I’ll be chasing this one up to upstate NY. Location tbd. I missed the last storm and was super bummed out. So this one means even more. Thanks for posting accu maps to help with the decision. Right now I’m thinking Albany is a safe bet although that mix line may have be going to glens falls or even lake George.
  19. But he usually speaks the truth. It’s kind of funny how all the analysis on here is usually wrong and all the negative JI posts essentially verify. Really one of the best sources of info on here for what will really happen. 6z gfs is way north with this now. Major changes.
  20. Does the gfs look better upstairs at the h7 or g5 or whatever? because the surface is still no good
  21. Whats wrong with sleet other than accumulating at about 1/10th of what snow does? Ice we could do without. But recall the accuracy of the last GFS "ice storm".
  22. You are being sarcastic… but I’ll answer anyway. Scares me when psu says we are reverting to Jan pattern; but instead it’s March. We didn’t do well. But I will chase for sure. Prob next weekend. So I’m excited. My last chase had to be canceled last minute. My cat got sick. Got money back on hotel room. Then paid for vet appointment.
  23. An endless train of precip getting shunted up here. One of them has to time right with the cold air; I think. I’d be far more excited if I was in upstate NY in this pattern. But I think we are at least in the game.
