I just drove through town. 100 is open but is mud/ debris covered in spots where it overwashed. Streams seem to have receded out of the the fields. A number of main roads are shut.

I opened all the windows last night and used window fans for the first time in 2 years. Really got the fresh air into the house knowing the humidity would be up the next few days. Got the temp to a really nice level overnight and shut the windows up this morning when I got. Closed the blinds too for while I was at work. Got home and thought the house was warmer and stickier than I expected and then immediately saw the one window I had missed closing this morning. Grr. Still pretty comfortable, especially compared to outside.

It is so disgusting out. I was trying to get some plants in the ground and do other outdoor jobs but it is just so disgusting out and the bugs are crazy. Yesterday was perfect planting- cool -58 to 60, rainy enough to drive away the bugs but not enough to make it unworkable. This is just awful out there today. edit: two closest stations are 78/85 and 81/73. I just can't handle working outside in temps over 75 anymore thanks to living at 1200'+ in C and N VT for years.

Curious to see if the mesoscale remnants coming through NYS hit me later. It went through the midwest and Lakes and is still alive this morning. It may just miss home to the north. Free watering for the yard would be appreciated.
-
Did you redo the whole yard or just a section?
-
Why do you have a new lawn? It has always looked immaculate in your photos.

We do it so I can repost this link again.

I was in NC at my alma mater outside Charlotte from Wed night until Saturday. Thursday it topped out at 92/75 but there a constant wind so it was actually nice to sit in the shade and read a book even midday. Friday the front came through so even though it hit 89, the dew dropped through the 50s in the afternoon and it was just wonderful by the evening. https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KNCDAVID52/graph/2024-06-7/2024-06-7/daily Sadly I just seem to wilt in the sun these days even at home but the campus is so shady it was really comfortable walking around.

Is your Corolla FWD or the AWD? I am curious as I will likely soon be replacing my Prius (I crossed 294000 miles this morning) as am wondering how the AWD is on the Corolla/Prius.

Only time I have ever seen the Northern Lights was in the winter of 97 when the comet was easily visible too,

https://www.spaceweather.com/ SEVERE GEOMAGNETIC STORM--NOW!! The first of six CMEs hurled toward Earth by giant sunspot AR3664 just hit our planet's magnetic field. The impact on May 10th at 1645 UT jolted magnetometers around the world (e.g., 108 nT in Boulder CO) and sparked a severe (G4-class) geomagnetic storm. This storm is underway now. More CMEs are following close behind (see below) and their arrival could extend the storm into the weekend. Stay tuned! CME impact alerts: SMS Text UPDATE--SIX CMEs HURLED TOWARD EARTH: The number of CMEs heading for Earth keeps increasing. The total is now six following this morning's X3.9-class flare from giant sunspot AR3664. All six storm clouds are captured in this time-lapse movie from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO): The two bright objects are Jupiter (left) and Venus (right). The CMEs will miss those planets and hit Earth instead. According to a NOAA forecast model, the first three CMEs could merge to form a "Cannibal CME." Cannibal CMEs form when fast-moving CMEs overtake and gobble up slower CMEs in front of them. Internal shock waves created by such CME collisions do a good job sparking geomagnetic storms when they strike Earth's magnetic field.
-
https://www.spaceweather.com/ Hype incoming. Expect Cannibal CME to overtake Polar Vortex and Atmospheric River as media buzz-phrase

Was it last year the Bruins had the best record in the history of the NHL and then lost in the first round? (or something like that)
