Another solid run! Even the foothills join the game a little bit more. HKY with a 10 degree drop tomorrow morning in 3 hrs.

The folks at foothills weather are incredibly bearish
To be fair, a lot is working against us foothills folks. Heck, I’m not sure I can ever remember downsloping not being a death sentence in these setups. My hope is that dynamics can over come this to a degree but I’ll plan to go to sleep tonight expecting nothing so I’ll be surprised if we get anything.

Friday isn’t far off from being a major winter storm on the GFS…

The HRRR nailed last February’s upstate/WNC event, so fingers crossed.

WNC about to get NAMed.
Nearly spit my coffee out when I looked at the SREF plumes this morning. My hopes have perked up quite a bit.

Sunday night & into Monday beginning to look very interesting for WNC. Euro with a thump on the 12z, GFS also has a significant wrap around NWF on it. This appears to have some validity.
If it happens, I may chase this one. I don’t like my odds in the foothills this winter.

Well technically yes earlier in the year as in last January through but this season is a big maybe...
Unreal. Can’t remember if I said it in this thread or the mid-long term discussion but snow aside, the above average temps are exhausting. I’m good with it even being slightly above average at this point but my station is at 73.0 as I speak.

Has anyone even measured snow this year?

Yep it is a pretty solid bet for now. It's a bloodbath.
It’ll relax in April

It’s a week out but models keep hinting at the Sunday/Monday timeframe. 06 GFS has a major snow/ice event all the way down to the upstate.

Northern Virginia gets clipped by the snow on Next Wednesday.
However, there is a major storm next Sunday on the 18z GFS with snow as far south as Georgia & Western North Carolina.I’ll settle for slightly above average air at this point. If we get some rain this week, I may be mowing again soon.

Today's run are not digging as deep nor is the system going negative tilt soon enough. I think this chance is cooked. It will be cold but that's it.
Hopefully it’s the storm that puts the plates and silverware on the table for us though

Not liking the trends. The 3km has widespread 4+ inch rainfall totals and a decent swath of 6+.

My jealousy runs deep this morning. That death band from Roan to Spruce Pine looks incredible. Rake it in fellas!
