ah okay I thought it was the -PNA not the +AO, this is why we have to be so careful with stats. Logic must also be applied; I like how you restated with the converse statement of NYC more likely to see a 4" snowfall when the AO isn't +

weather channel just did a piece on this storm and they showed all the models and the GFS had our area in a moderate snowfall. (3-5 or 5-8).

Don how is it that the chances increase the further south you go of a 4" snowfall?

omg that sounds scary! the 2/94 storm had CG so that would be dangerous in a chairlift! my house was shaking when lightning struck nearby

Mine too, the first time I actually experienced thundersnow and the amazing snowfall rates that go along with it. It's why I love day time snowstorms so much.

I wonder how slowing down of ocean currents, like the gulf stream, will impact it? Maybe ocean currents are slowing in one area and speeding up in another to balance it out?

especially since it can go from 60 to over a foot of snow the next day lol, so it should always be warm on the days it doesn't snow

this was the big thundersnow snowstorm, it was an amazing daytime snowstorm went from bare ground to 8 inches in like 4 hours between 10 am and 2 pm
