  1. Wait this can't be right, NYC did not get 4.2 inches, all of us got 8-9 inches out of that storm.
  2. it was mostly a mixed precip event for us. My favorite storm in that pattern happened in April.
  3. 4/1/97 was a huge bust, we were supposed to get 8-16 inches but got 1-2 and Boston got 30 inches. That was like the 2004 ALCS
  4. It's so dumb lol, and they should stay out of that sort of thing. If people don't have common sense to know what to do, then don't bother.
  5. Where do these stupid sayings come from? Please tell me a met did not invent this. "When thunder roars go indoors" 1) thunder doesn't *roar* 2) if people need stupid phrases like this to be saved, maybe they're too stupid to be saved and don't bother? Use common sense, people. I'd replace it with *When thunder rumbles take a tumble* That's more accurate as far as what thunder actually sounds like. Plus, let them tumble.....
  6. you should add April 1996 to this list, JFK had 4 inches of snow, Central Park as usual undermeasured.
  7. why aren't you wearing a tshirt?
  8. 3. 10.0", April 12-14, 1875 ___________ 66 Apr 11 (60 Mar 30) This is pretty funny, 66 on April 11th and then 10 inches of snow over three days starting the next day? How did we have a three day snowstorm in April? 2. 10.2", April 3-4, 1915 _____________ 59 Mar 25 This one believe it or not, we got fringed as Philly got 20 inches of snow lol.
  9. this weekend will be really good.
  10. 2002-03 was such a classic winter. I think the frequency is much higher when the prior winter has been very snowy.
  11. Right now summer is more desirable.
  12. it must have been a lot of fun lol
  13. yes less snowy and less cold than those historic seasons, because we're in a drier cycle now and less snowy too. But probably better than any other season in this miserable decade.
  14. Yes because this isn't 1955-56 or 1966-67 lol
  15. you were clearly having a waking dream
  16. we can separate hottest summers (number of 90 degree days) vs greatest positive deviations from the mean (highest averages). A fine distinction, but it is one.
  17. Space X capsule just landed with the astronauts who were stuck on the space station for 9 months!!
  18. He's probably just joking around.
  19. The higher minimums contaminate that record, we measure heat by number of hot days (highs of 90 or higher.) Thus excessively wet summers get an artificial boost as does increased urbanization.
  20. Yeah this is why I'm also against countries in the Global South and other developing countries be allowed to *catch up*-- this is a global climate emergency and nature doesn't give a shit about politics or income level or region of the world.
  21. it's almost like you're begging to be weenie'd lol
  22. Thanks, it was a lot more exciting than either of the last two Marches (multiple extremes lol), or any March of this decade for that matter. Getting snow and 85 degrees in the same month is absolute weather perfection ! It cooled down after the 17th didn't it? I remember that-- and we had half an inch of snow in the first week of April that year.
  23. Yes they've been experimenting in the New Mexico desert. Wait, you want to partner with them? There are several governments looking to join in, likely by 2030.
