85 where are you at exactly,,,,,,and do u have a measurement ? I am in Rockland County / New City and my yardstick has been on my table / deck and stuck on 16 inches for hours but I know we got at least 4 more inches maybe more since we shoveled ,,,I am thinking the wind is screwing my measurements,,,,just trying to gauge what we got here anyone else feel free to chime in if you are nearby or have a measurement,,thanks

Merry Christmas ,,lol
-
New City Greg,,,started around 9 or 9 30
-
Im in New City and it might have started sooner but I noticed the first flakes around 9 or 9 30
-
I can vouch that thus far Rockland has seen nothing,,,,,but I also know that it is coming
-
All that I can add is that NOTHING is written in stone with literally 3 days before game time and to live and die with each run,,,,well you guys should know better. I love the discussions but trends are one thing and even a novice like myself respects them and takes them into consideration but the models could just as easily shift back North and or West as we get closer to game time as some ALWAYS DO,,,,my 2 cents but this is far from a done deal

January 2021 General Discussions & Observations Thread
Brasiluvsnow replied to Stormlover74's topic in New York City Metro
Looking like 12 degrees in New City / Rockland right now ,,,,,,I see a quick walk in my dogs future ,,,,out , take care of business and then right back into the house lol -
Here is my 2 cents as B R always talks about the Macdonald rule which is " where the system enters on the West Coast it usually exits in the east coast " and IF this holds true with this storm THEN South of NYC is the place to be for this one,,,,,does it happen ? ---> 3 days to go

I have read such things in books and I have seen such things in old movies, yet I thought they only wives tales.
-
Wow I don't remember that
-
Liberty you are going too fast for me as I am still very much a novice , what the hell is a Aneroid Barometer lol ?
-
Yes Liberty exactly,,,,,I remember back then my dad brought home one of those hand held weather radios all you got on it was a recorded weather announcement for a few areas and I would listen to that for hours as a kid. They would update the recorded message every so often back then it was state of the art now its comical

I used to love watching and listening to Alan Kasper on ch2, he was a really good weather man and a snow weenie as he would outwardly hope for snow while doing his forecast.
-
I was already out of High School and tossed from 2 colleges,,,,,,well not really the first one tossed me the 2nd one I dropped out myself with dignity lol. No matter how you slice it 88 you missed one hell of a storm in 78
-
31 ???????? LOL I have tools in my shed older than you
-
great storm and I can't remember if it was that same week or a week later we got a 2nd storm on top of the Blizzard of 78
-
Your probably too young or 78 would be on that list
-
i Dont know him but Im glad Josh is ok,,,,,,so IF Dorian slows down again while over the warm waters wont it intensify and be stronger then modeled when it resumes going North ? sounds right to me
-
The Bermuda High is weakening and a new piece of energy is supposed to eventually begin pulling Dorian North but I sure would feel a lot better if Dorian was in fact moving North now instead of still moving West even if its only at 1 mph ----- is there anything that could prevent the Northern pull from happening ? Is there any piece of energy that could continue sending Dorian West ? I mean could the weakening high not break down totally or as expected ?
-
Not exactly the answer I was looking for
-
I posted this in the storm thread but it belongs here as well "Can anyone answer this = assuming that Dorian continues traveling west at its current speed what longitude and latitude would it have to be at where it would be safe to say that this WOULD BE making landfall in Florida ?"
