88 I am at the point where I am not sure if I am happy to read this because I will be sad when it does not happen---I am just hating ALL the long range models lately they have been so unreliable

88 sorry to say that I dont believe much of anything that the models show especially when it is more the 24 or 48 hours out. I hope they are correct THIS TIME but I am not buying in until i see it happen

I went to the Catskills for a few hours this morning and temps hovered between 34 and 30 all the way ---- trees looked like glass,,,,,,,,,,on the way home it was sleeting pretty good but eventually it turned to rain and all wet. I got home a short while ago and it was sleeting outside my house here in New City and the deck was / is pretty slick

88 ,,,,that is literally NEXT year lol. I hate all theses damn long range models as you know what they are showing now won't be remotely close to what happens on Jan 6th although I would take that in a heartbeat

Novice checking in and I get that there is oceans of science involved in much of this but I will not buy into any of it until I see what actually happens. Most of you guys have forgotten more of this science than I will probably ever understand but with that said , The long range says this the long range says that or so and so says this or what about the the Pacific Jet / this looks just like last year yada yada or how about the PV -----all I know that regardless of who says what or which model shows anything that it could EASILY still snow in the North East for New Years. Now back to your discussion.

BlueWave I am not sure if you want to or if someone else can but speaking for myself ( and I am sure many others lurking have the same questions) but can someone explain the 500 hpa geographical heights that I / we are looking at ? I get the MJO index and can follow what you guys are talking about with that but when you guys post the above I get lost as I do not know what exactly you guys are showing me / us novices ? Can someone explain it simply if thats possible ? Thanks in advance

NJX I am right there with you especially since the Yankees landed Cole but that said we have OCEANS of time until the Boys Of Summer are at it and hopefully we get to track and see a big snowstorm or 5 in these parts before we PLAY BALL!!!!

88 chin up we will get em next time winter is just beginning. This storm defiantly impacted areas but I agree it was not as bad as advertised for some including my area in New City but thats a good thing as IMO we dodged a bullet and I will take it. My yard and my grass is all white and very glazed over my cars in the driveway were in ice cocoons and the driveway itself was an ice skating rink, kids had 2 hour delays so they were loving that. I love snow but hate ice so I will take this one and be happy that we did not lose power or have bad issues, its a long winter buddy hang in there we will get ours its only a matter of time we are just getting started .

You just know that when u wake up in the middle of the night and log in and see that the topic at hand is NOT lit up like a Christmas tree that things are NOT going as or as bad as they were expected. Still time and freezing rain is falling as I type so lets see how this plays out

30 degrees and not much snow has fallen----Deck is white along with grass and my driveway but streets are NOT white. That said freezing rain currently falling and everything is glazed over .

New City checking in,,,,,Snow flakes just began to fall------no water thus far just white flakes

32 degrees here in New City and nothing happening yet,,,,that said the kids and I just got home with our Christmas Tree ,,,now back to the storm
