Thanks THM, I don't post on here often and I lurk in the other New York thread with the occasional post here and there. As far as yesterday all I can tell you that it was coming down / big flakes at a good clip and everything went very white without a plow or salt spreader heading my way. On the West side there were a few plows and spreaders spotted but nada heading East. That was the worst part of my ride on that stretch.

My apologies Tug as I was WEST not North of Syracuse, Somewhere between Rochester and Syracuse it got nasty and was snowing pretty good , I think I was near a town called Ferndale . The route was 390 to 81 to 86 to 17 my bad brother sorry about that I was tired when I posted last night and I still am lol

Drove home from Buffalo today and it was not sticking in most places but boy oh boy when we got about half hour North of Syracuse it was coming down at a really good clip and everything was white

Did the drive home from Buffalo today to Rockland County and when we got about 20 to 30 minutes North of Syracuse it was quite the winter wonderland , let me know how much u guys wound up with there ?

Hi guys, I have been watching this thread like a hawk and looking at tidbits myself = I am taking my son back to school today ( Driving to Buffalo from Rockland ) and I am staying at a hotel overnight and leaving as early as I can Saturday morning to return home. Judging from what I have seen and read I believe that I won't have any issues with ICE or Freezing Rain as " I THINK " the problems on the roads ( if any ) will begin Saturday later in the afternoon---> the route is 17 up thru Binghamton past Cortland ,Albany all the way to Amherst, it's a 5 hour drive Am I mistaken , do any of you ladies and gentlemen think i might have issues ?

And you were probably thinking the same thing as me " nothing could be as bad as last winter " right ?

Delta thanks, FYI a month and a half ago I drove the same exact route and I was on 17 ( in my truck ) the temp was varying between 30 and 34 degrees the entire trip but near Windsor ( higher elevation South of Binghamton ) and it was a nightmare ,,it was easily the worst experience I ever had while driving in any weather conditions as the highway was NOT maintained and there were cars and accidents all over the road and they only got 3 or 4 inches of snow max but rumor has it there was freezing rain associated with that one Thanks again

HV21 ----thanks for the reply and yes I saw his post and I am trying to leave sooner I think that its best I get to Buff no later than Thursday nite and return home on Friday EARLY thats how I am leaning right now but I am juggling schedules trying to make it happen

Thanks Dave I am looking at everything but you and I both know that the NWS is excellent but so are MANY of the peeps on this site

I'm close to tossing in the towel because I just cant see how we can trust anything being spit out by any models never mind anything 2 or 3 weeks from now

BX yes it has freezing rain out there 15 minutes ago I was in the yard with my dog and I saw that a spotter had New City with 2.8 at 7;30 so I guess I was mistaken

BX are you sure about that measurement ? I am in New City and although I did NOT measure but to my trained eye lol , I was just out there for a while doing the driveway and Im thinking slightly more between 3 and 4 ---I could be wrong or maybe a few miles made a difference .

Snowing pretty good here in New City and it stuck immediately and EVERYTHING is white it looks as winter should look = like a winter wonderland !

Question, if the Snow starts earlier than advertised do you think we are looking at an over performer or that the system will be in and out faster and less snow ?

I have things to do tomorrow and I was thinking that it would begin around 4 BUT BUT BUT If it is going to begin earlier that changes things----> Satisfied ?

88 I have to give you your props as anyone who knows me will tell you how I love weather and specifically SNOW but you blow my optimism out of the water. That said I know we still have a long way to go with winter and we have this little system to deal with on Saturday BUT BUT BUT I can say that IF he pattern does NOT change and we do NOT get a full fledged snowstorm the end of next week then I will be throwing in the towel. I get it that there will still be oceans of time but last year burnt us this year won;'t burn me I will be in full bring in SPRING mode lets open the pool and play some baseball ! That said can we get some freaking snow tomorrow !!!!!!
