  1. Fixed that for him = " One of these days Northeast weather weenies will post a 10 day snow map and it will actually verify , and they will be dancing in the streets "
  2. 88, I'm out,,,,,,done brother . I won't believe anything the models show until I see it happen. Bring on pitchers and catchers and we can try this again next year.
  3. 88 and AllSnow, the GFS showing a storm and the time frame is over a week away ? = Although I would love for this to verify = sorry guys I aint buying it until it is MUCH closer to the event ( as the sky has fallen more than snow has this winter ). Lets get past this weekend first
  4. I am a novice and I totally understand that there are many moving parts that must come together for this weekend to work out well for snow lovers. The way the winter has gone with these models = the only time I want to be in the bulls eye is on the day of the storm. The models that have shifted "way" West or OTS could easily show us different solutions in 24 or 48 hours. Lets see what the later runs today have to say, with 4 days to go yet A LOT can happen.
  5. Thanks Don I know who Paul Kocin is but not the other guy I will check it out
  6. CMC and the GEM = the same model correct ? asking for a friend
  7. BW ---> My wife has a childhood friend who now lives there and she is going for her daughters wedding. She will be traveling with her best friend who go figure also has someone who she has not seen in years who lives in the same damn town as my wifes New Zealand friend ( small world for real ) so thats the plan. They stay in Hawaii a few days before the wedding. I on the other hand will stay home and play Mr Mom and watch for St Paddys snowstorms lol
  8. Probably Farthest place in the world that you can go from New York---wife is going in March we paid = Newark to Honolulu $319 staying there a few days then from there to Aukland $650 thats 1 way. The price coming back is slightly cheaper as it is direct without the stop to Honolulu ----total was $1700 and change---enjoy BW
  9. Thanks THM, I don't post on here often and I lurk in the other New York thread with the occasional post here and there. As far as yesterday all I can tell you that it was coming down / big flakes at a good clip and everything went very white without a plow or salt spreader heading my way. On the West side there were a few plows and spreaders spotted but nada heading East. That was the worst part of my ride on that stretch.
  10. My apologies Tug as I was WEST not North of Syracuse, Somewhere between Rochester and Syracuse it got nasty and was snowing pretty good , I think I was near a town called Ferndale . The route was 390 to 81 to 86 to 17 my bad brother sorry about that I was tired when I posted last night and I still am lol
  11. Drove home from Buffalo today and it was not sticking in most places but boy oh boy when we got about half hour North of Syracuse it was coming down at a really good clip and everything was white
  12. Did the drive home from Buffalo today to Rockland County and when we got about 20 to 30 minutes North of Syracuse it was quite the winter wonderland , let me know how much u guys wound up with there ?
  13. Hi guys, I have been watching this thread like a hawk and looking at tidbits myself = I am taking my son back to school today ( Driving to Buffalo from Rockland ) and I am staying at a hotel overnight and leaving as early as I can Saturday morning to return home. Judging from what I have seen and read I believe that I won't have any issues with ICE or Freezing Rain as " I THINK " the problems on the roads ( if any ) will begin Saturday later in the afternoon---> the route is 17 up thru Binghamton past Cortland ,Albany all the way to Amherst, it's a 5 hour drive Am I mistaken , do any of you ladies and gentlemen think i might have issues ?
  14. And you were probably thinking the same thing as me " nothing could be as bad as last winter " right ?
  15. Delta thanks, FYI a month and a half ago I drove the same exact route and I was on 17 ( in my truck ) the temp was varying between 30 and 34 degrees the entire trip but near Windsor ( higher elevation South of Binghamton ) and it was a nightmare ,,it was easily the worst experience I ever had while driving in any weather conditions as the highway was NOT maintained and there were cars and accidents all over the road and they only got 3 or 4 inches of snow max but rumor has it there was freezing rain associated with that one Thanks again
  16. HV21 ----thanks for the reply and yes I saw his post and I am trying to leave sooner I think that its best I get to Buff no later than Thursday nite and return home on Friday EARLY thats how I am leaning right now but I am juggling schedules trying to make it happen
  17. Thanks Dave I am looking at everything but you and I both know that the NWS is excellent but so are MANY of the peeps on this site
  18. Mods if this needs to be moved to Banter or somewhere else please do so. I posted this in the Western NY thread but I could use some help as I have to head to UB ( Amherst ) from Rockland County with my son to take him back to school and I have been trying to figure out when to leave and return home. I realize we still have a few days to go and as of right now the weather is not written in stone. My plan was to drive him and a friend back to school and for me to get a room over night and return home after resting but it appears to me that I might be screwed. Looks to me that snow showers and frozen precipitation could start as soon as Friday night and that this only gets worse as we get into Saturday---> Am I mistaken ,do you think I can get this ride in if we head to Buffalo on Friday morning and I head back to Rockland either late Friday nite or VERY EARLY Saturday morning or will I be looking for trouble. I have driven thru Windsor , Binghamton and other places during freezing rain and that is NOT ANY FUN ,I am looking at a 5 hour drive --> thanks in advance , thoughts ?

  20. I'm close to tossing in the towel because I just cant see how we can trust anything being spit out by any models never mind anything 2 or 3 weeks from now
  21. 88 I just can't---I have the towel in my hand and I am REAL close to tossing it brother
  22. I am watching this one more closely than usual as I have to drive to Buffalo this weekend , keep the updates coming ladies and gentlemen
  23. BX yes it has freezing rain out there 15 minutes ago I was in the yard with my dog and I saw that a spotter had New City with 2.8 at 7;30 so I guess I was mistaken
  24. BX I went out to pick my kid up from work main roads / 304 is really bad not a plow or salt spreader in sight but man it looks like a post card out there !
