HRRR continues to pound the lower plateau counties. Lighter in the southern valley. It still really stiffs the Central Valley around TYS for some reason.
It is. I suspect their argument is that the actual blizzard conditions will be so isolated that it doesn’t make sense to issue the product. Same logic they use down here to leave Signal and Lookout Mountains without any winter weather products.
I’m just completely shocked that there are no advisories out at all for the 20,000 people that live at elevation in Hamilton county. Makes no sense to me at all.
No expansion of the WWA with the afternoon update. The higher elevations of Hamilton now have warning criteria snow forecasted and zero winter products out.
Good gravy. I would love to be excited about this, but I have zero idea what to expect. I want some snow, but not so much that we lose power. Signal and Lookout are going to be lights out. No doubt.
Standards for warning criteria can and should be based on topography. GSP does this. We would have to almost double our annual seasonal average in Chattanooga to reach warning criteria for MRX. It’s nonsensical.
FFC has expanded their WSW for all northern counties. Once again, the valley is completely enclosed on all sides by winter storm watches. I wish this was a rare occurrence, but it really isn’t.
Is there anything still showing >0.5" for KCHA? I'm trying to determine how they formulated their forecast. Seems like things have ticked upwards down here today.
