    I got down to 12 and then shot up to 25 already.

    The flow snow is actually hitting the ground here tonight. I’ve got a fresh dusting on areas where the sun melted the snow off the pavement earlier. Still coming down lightly.

    I wonder how Gatlinburg is doing? They look to be getting blasted with flow snow now.

    Radar just looks like normal NW flow to me now. That’s unlikely to accumulate down here.

    I think I’m going to mark this as a 2.5” snow but it’s honestly a total guess. The sun did an excellent job of vaporizing it off the roads. The only slick spots are shady areas or areas exposed to the wind that are getting blowing snow.

    It's just too cold for brine to be effective at these temperatures, no? They heavily treated the main road nearby, and it's all white other what they've managed to scrap or plow. The chemistry says brine can work down to near zero degrees without freezing. In practice it just doesn't often work that way. I think it buys about an hour of time at the very start of events with temps above 25. Then it get too diluted by meltwater and stops working.

    This isn't going to be a popular opinion, but my many years of snow events at TDOT has made me very skeptical of brine. During the event last January we brined half of I-75 in Hamilton County and left the other half untreated. It made zero difference during the event.

    I have what I would call heavy snow for the first time. Went sledding earlier and the tracks are filled in already.

    I think we’ve gotten into some better forcing. Rates are picking up again here. Might clear 2”.

    It’s going to be very hard to get a measurement for this snow. I think I’m at around 1.5” but in some places it’s double that and others are nearly swept bare by the wind. Almost nothing on roofs. 18 degrees.

    Well we didn’t get nothing! Can’t tell how much but everything is white outside. Still coming down lightly. It does appear to be under an inch at this point.

    I find it very interesting that this event is also starting with a a poorly modeled initial round of precip. Just like last weekend. Hopefully this weekend scratches the snowy itch for more of us.

    While obviously too light overall, the heaviest portions of this are present, but are displaced to the west by 20-30 miles. If that holds true for the entire event, could be good news for SE TN.

    There is an initial round of snow working its way through Hamilton County. The orientation is wrong for what I expect the main show to be. It honestly just resembles normal NW flow. I think as the ULL moves in this will re-orient into nearly a due N-S direction. Seeing some ground truth MPING reports in the city now. Nothing IMBY yet, but we should get some light precipitation shortly. 32 here.

    Adjacent FFC counties in North GA have gone for a forecast of 0.5-2" for just across the border. At these temps that presents a wide range of impacts. 0.5 probably doesn't wreck the roads. 2" absolutely will.

    Nah. They go by the NBM. We will be lucky to even get a WWA.

    I'm getting snow jam 2014 vibes. Very cold temps, very high ratio snow, there is the potential for very high impacts to roadways even with light amounts.

    We've got moderate snow up on Hwy 111 and the very top of Signal Mtn. Not much in the valley except icy crystals and the occasional perfect five point flake.

    I think the lower elevations down here are going to be fine. There really isn't as much accretion as I expected at 29 degrees. The mountains may be in worse shape though.

    After nearly reaching 30, my temperature is dropping again. Down to 28. That's very concerning.
