I will say, the 10th - 12th event continuing to go sideways along with a series of disastrous runs for the "epic" pattern over the next few weeks has been a special series of hours of fail, yes.

We've been down this road in past winters. I am NOT making a prediction for how it goes this time, but what you are describing is NOT odd. A weak disturbance hitting a wall of colder air that dries out QPF on the northern edges is very familiar. Happens plenty.

Your comparison in the other thread was instructive - and the dry air horseshoe style "bite" toward balt city on even the good models is what has my attention...really riding a line here for our area up to PSU.

Forecasting this winter has gotten pretty simple - people are looking at which model has done "better" and at what leads. That's not the way to do it. From near as I can tell, you want to look at the models 36 hours before the event, see where Balt City is - take a blend of the two showing the LEAST for that area, and then look at what they are showing for your area in relation to it. Step 2. Start a Facebook winter weather page. Step 3. Profit.

Of course it is. You are correct. People who are drowning in snow so far this year might maybe have a little more sympathy, but, hey. It is what it is. Just because we want to be for once posting pics of "OMG puking snow" as opposed to puddles, well, that's just crazy talk.

Easy to say that when you are in the area consistently jack-potting. Great advice. Where was C'ville on that Euro run - under the 14" number? Tough luck for you, clearly.
