The 0z EPS is clearly showing that the trough in the SW is getting kicked out and on the move east, just as the Weeklies have been showing for some time. There is also ridging showing up on the west coast at day 15… Here is day 13 & day 15 on the 0z EPS. -
The Sixers gave Denver a heck of a fight tonight with no Embiid, Maxey, Harris or Melton. Good to see the bench players step up & almost pull off the upset against a full Denver lineup.

Exactly, not arguing…..but if the mean would be in Ohio, it would be game over already. We are in the game for now…

Exactly, the mean is just off of the Carolina coast & there are ensemble members stretching back to Arkansas, Mississippi and inland as far north as western VA. Long way to go…but we are in the game.

Heck of a signal on the 18z GEFS for around February 5th. Snow map is just for the 4 day period around this storm.

No can kicking on the latest Euro Weeklies. Here is where the 12z EPS left off today & the latest Weeklies for the same time stamp at 0z on the 11th. They look very similar. The latest Weeklies then show this absolutely golden look 4 days later for Valentine’s evening on the lowest image below. This could be a lot of fun tracking specific threats if this look continues to hold. -

The MJO was supposed to stall in 6 if you go back & look at forecasts from a week or so back, but now it’s rocketing through 6. Latest forecasts have it stalling in 7 & trying to hook back. Most of this season, the MJO has kept moving along despite its forecasts to stall. I think it will again progress slowly through 7 into 8, hopefully locking in a prolonged wintry pattern.

Just to show the growing potential for early February, the snow maps on the 0z GEFS & EPS are improving for the period of the first 10 days of the month.

Yes, lots of time for the convoluted blocking & confluence to ease in the next 10 days. Better now to see it off of the Carolina coast instead of a low in the Lakes at this range.

6z GFS keeps alive the chance at some back end snow even for the LSV by Sunday evening.

Lol, no red tag here, but I love his posts. Brooklyn really knows his stuff & I’ve been learning more about pattern recognition & development from him. He has been having great post after great post today in the Mid Atlantic thread. It’s good to see PSU Hoffman fired up about the February potential as well.

12z EPS & 12z GEFS in the day 10 to 15 also are in agreement with the ridging shifting to central Canada & Alaska. The trough is undercutting and connecting the SW trough with the Atlantic trough. We should begin to have our chances if this look continues to hold.

6z GFS gets the initial low almost to the southwest PA border before the transfer off of the DelMarVa. This run gives a good chunk of CTP a chance at some backside snow. This is the Kuchera map. Hopefully the blue fills in by game time.

6z NAM gets decent snow this run to areas just to the north & west of Harrisburg.
