Man that inverted trough must be forming right over me. Heavy snow continues with ~ 3" on the grass already. Can barely see the power lines from my window at about 500'away.
Still light rain here at 33.9. I'm at 725'. Latest radar scan shows some bright banding at my location in northwestern Loudoun. Thinking that a mix may just off the surface for me.
I lived in Annandale (Fairfax Co.) for that one. Was a Junior in high school. Insane rates of 3 to 4 inches per hour in the middle of the night. Goes down as my favorite snow storm of my life.
Coming down pretty good now. Deck has coating and grass is turning white in spots, 31.8. Must have brought some snow home with me last night. Received 15" of lake effect for Thanksgiving at my Dad's house just north of Cazenovia, NY.
I ended up with a total of 3.45". According to radar estimates, the jack zone was just to the northeast of me, north of 340 and west of Frederick. Anyone have a rain gauge in this zone?
Left at 5:30 this morning with 0.50" in my rain gauge. Returned home at 4:30 with 3.35" in the gague - unbelieveable! I new I was in that band most of the day looking at radar at work, but wow!!
I sure am glad that wasn't me. I noticed since moving here 5 years ago that Charles Town seems to get the worst of the severe weather in the general area. That lightning show yesterday was intense and the thunder was nearly continues. Glad you escaped the worst of it.
