  1. I'd imagine we'd have to get several inches out of either early next week or something else...and then a 20+inch KU to at least get close, lol
  2. Ah--so maybe that's why Cranky on twitter was saying that tomorrow or Friday would be a good benchmark to start predicting the next storm!
  3. Bold prediction: If February goes well, we might get at least 33 inches of snow (recorded by BWI) this month! An out there prediction based on little more than two historical years...lol
  4. Good ol' Aunt JiMA...She's a little dotty but she means well...
  5. Well I mean technically...Day 10 does fall around President's Day, does it not? Lol (and certainly before the 20th!)
  6. So in the previous runs that worked...the two pieces of energy came together into a healthier system and then "eject" into the high? (Pardon me if I misunderstood ya)
  7. Huh...How accurate do you think the strength/placement of the HP can be modeled from this range? (As opposed to trying to model the lows, lol) I'd imagine if the HP is anywhere near that strength, rain would definitely not be a concern, lol
  8. Don't get to say that too often, lol But as Bob has mentioned a few times--this year, despite the crappier periods...the few windows we have had we've maximized!
  9. A map of the blizzard of 1979...Now what confuses me is that this clearly wasn't an "up the coast" storm...(or at least...the snowfall distribution wasn't up the coast like some of our other big storms!). So...how did this happen that it pummeled us...yet skirted places further northeast? (Any records on how this storm evolved? @psuhoffman? You seem to know where to find such records, lol)
  10. Well, as others have said...it's been drivin' the bus all winter (and subsequently frustrating every long range forecast made before winter started)...so it's been forced into the discussion! Gotta wonder if, going forward...it will be discussed more in winter forecasts (not sure how predictable it is beforehand, though!)
  11. I'm pretty much in the exact same thinking about all this. (Except my yard was kinda in between the jackpot zone and the screw zone last month!) I wanna see at one 10"+ to hit climo (which I consider to be 20 inches, with 15 being the mean). It has been an uphill winter for half the subforum, and to not get at least that would be disappointing. And there's certainly nothing wrong with wanting big storms (no matter the likelihood) (And the funny part about what ya said about one 30" storm? Some deem 2015/16 still kind of a failure despite that exact thing happening, lol).
  12. I'm gonna assume that means we'll have to live off of sliders in order to get snow, then? (Cranky also has the same opinion about no coastal potential). If so, hopefully we can get another couple that have juice!
  13. What did it just kinda break it apart when it got to our area?
  14. Ah! Now I haven't heard anyone mention a positive AO until this morning...Did this just pop up?
  15. Question: All of our biggest storms (like the ones that were an area-wide 12-24+ inches) coastal runners? Or were there some instances of a juiced up slider that moved slowly or something?
  16. Wonder if we're getting a better idea of it's biases...maybe it's phase happy? Lol (either that or it'll score a big win if it verifies!)
  17. So, when it comes to the remainder of our winter, it sounds like @psuhoffman's brain is starting agree with to @Bob Chill's gut!!
  18. Had to get that last jab in, didn't ya? Smh Bob said what needed to be said and I agreed--let's just leave it at that and move on.
  19. Yeah I've been reading up on that storm lately...those pics are amazing! (And I can imagine the forecasting pandemonium since they had only called for a few inches at best...lol)
  20. I understand. Will take all of that into consideration from now on! Do you think you could PM me the link you sent yesterday? (and any other links you deem helpful). That way I can have it all in one place without having to dig through the board, lol
  21. Well I mean...okay, I guess I can ask folks things in private chat...I didn't know it was that big of an issue. (Maybe we oughta have a thread just for questions then, lol) I'm naturally curious about anything I'm fascinated by, so yes I do ask a lot of questions, lol
  22. You tell me what the heck I did this time (or the other times, lol)...ya know what, never mind. Ya got a problem with my posts, take it up with the mods. Or use the ignore button
  23. What are you talking about? Do I not ask plenty of questions? Why you're singling me out I have no idea. I've had a couple moments, but gosh I ask more questions than I do give analysis because I'm still learning (unless questions don't add value either) And if you actually read my post in banter yesterday, you'd know what I am referring to. This winter is progressing in a similar way to those other two (at least in terms of snowfall). Just found the similarities uncanny, that's all. Get off my back.
