We’ve had several BN Novembers in the last decade. I think it’s maybe the one month that’s trending cooler in the most recent climate period? And that’s done and meant jack shit for our subsequent winters.

For my neck of the woods, we look to be on track for the 14th November in the past 17 years with total precip for the month below the long-term mean.  Only AN months in that time were in 2011, 2018 and 2022.

At MRB, the mean for the entire period of record (since 1926) is 2.85” but since 2000 it has only been 2.46”

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

I will research precipitation patterns for the entire winter into the following spring of all other El Nino's since 1980, November - April.

Cool.  I’ll be interested in seeing what you turn up.

Here we are in the first week of November in a moderate to strong  El Nino and the Severe Drought for the I-81 corridor continues to worsen.  I have been dry since the end of July.

August gave me 1.12 compared to a normal of 3.63, September gave 3.59" compared to a normal of 4.43", October gave .53" compared to a normal of 3.25".

Historical comparisons to other El Nino's of this value gives me reason for great concern. Most other El Nino's gave a wet November.    1997 6.46",  2009  6.75"............................

The next 15 days look dry.......................... WE are running out of time for this El Nino to kick in...........

It could be a Nino like 1982-83.  Precip was light through the fall and much of the winter.  At DCA:

    Sep 1.71”

    Oct 1.75”

    Nov 2.96”

    Dec 1.94”

    Then January ‘83 had 1.74”

We all know what happened in mid-February.

How about the officials again getting involved and deciding a game with 2 highly questionable calls at the end. Cleveland wins with their help.

This is the scourge of the NFL.  It’s hard to get through any Sunday without seeing the zebras egregiously interfering with the outcome of a game.

  5. I also put up a snow stake in my yard in the Fall of 2009.  I think most on the boards  were expecting a big winter.

I remember a post from @Stormchaserchuck1calling for a big snow season for the Mid-Atlantic and Tennessee Valley.  At that time he had the reputation as the guy who had forecasted the warmest winter on record a couple of years earlier.  So that lent some confidence to the high expectations.

Who are we pulling for to face the Os on Saturday?

    Rays or Rangers?

I would rather the O’s face Texas, since their bullpen is much weaker than Tampa’s.  But in 2014, I was happy when the 98-win Angels lost and we drew the Royals in the ALCS.  We know how that worked out lol

Sometimes you need to live a little and let it rip!

In 2013 I went to see Fun. at Merriweather.  There was stalled out severe storm that dumped for an hour straight.  Lightening everywhere.  They kept playing.  I was in the field the whole time.

That was the most memorable concert experience of my life...

I attended the infamous Grateful Dead concert at Merriweather in 1983 which became known as “Terror Weather.”  Also a stalled storm that dumped 3-4” of rain during the show.  Lightning strikes all around.  The power went out a couple of times as the band  kept playing.  People were sliding down the lawn on cardboard from beer cases.

The footbridge we crossed to enter was a foot underwater when we tried to leave.  Which meant wading through waist-deep water.  Then we realized there was no getting out of the lots until the water receded.
