Berkeley County WV closed also. Remember when they didn’t close schools based on a forecast, but actually waited until the morning to assess the conditions ?

Right…I believe the coaches are contractually obligated and that was a waste of time.
Those questions though…
”how did you like your guy acting like a punk?”
“what will it take for you to dump your QB (after one series)”

I just submitted a report to CoCoRaHS for the 5,000th consecutive day. That’s a lot of morning walks across the yard in all kinds of weather.

I’m up to 1.20” of liquid for the event. Still 34° with plenty of snowpack left.

Gonna be tight. If we leave at 5am and traffic on the beltway isn't a mess then we will be on top of the mtn at 9am. 20mins to set up the tent...depends on which model I'm hugging. Windy and 30F is a lot easier than windy and 10F so we'll see... Be sure as long as I have cell service there'll be updates lol.
LWX has the front moving through before daybreak there. By 8:00 a.m. winds are already gusting to almost 60 mph. Here’s the P&C forecast for Bittinger:

Leaving at 5am tomorrow morning to get a jump on the weather. Hoping to get the tent up before the cold air slams through which looks to be around 11am-12pm. WSW says wind chills of -35F, it's gonna be an epic campout. One of our game cams transmitted a pic this morning that looked like maybe 4" on the ground already. We're going to try for three nights. Really it depends on how well the dog can handle it.
Pretty hardcore, man. Enjoy ! I have camped in -25°F temps, but the wind you’ll be dealing with is beyond my experience.

Already changed to sleet lol.
That didn't last long
Went to a sleet/snow mix here for a while, but this band is dropping parachutes. Big flakes knocking down visibility.

Light snow and 31°. First band laid down about 0.25”. Next bands are either gonna be pretty good or sleety.

With skies still mostly clear, I’ve dropped to 26° with the DP at 15. My location typically does very well with radiational cooling. Working it’s magic so far this evening.

I pulled up the point-and-click forecast for Mount Storm, West Virginia. After their 4 to 7 inches of snow and a quarter inch of ice tomorrow, the temperature on Friday night falls to’ -3°F, with wind gusts to 60 mph. Saturday’s forecast high is 5°F.
That’s pretty impressive for December, even there.

1.81” storm total

Drove Rt. 9 into northern Virginia this morning. Beautiful ride from the top of the mountain at the Loudoun County line all the way to Paeonian Springs with lots of ice in the trees.. even saw a few branches down.
As soon as I got to Rt 7 there was no ice left.

Late January 2007. Every guidance showed a nice 3-6” event from a rather weak wave along a stalled boundary only 24 hours out. Everything except the NAM. We were tossing it since surely that one relatively new and so far unreliable model couldn’t be right against all else. Wanna guess what happened?
My first winter in WV. I was so frustrated after that bust, and the winter to that point, that I headed to the mountains for a snow fix. When I returned, a great pattern set in and there were numerous snowfalls through mid-March.

So I’m not the only one who does this lol
Me too. Every year.

The line blew through here without much action. Some brief heavy rain, but no thunder or lightning. Winds have gotten gusty behind it though.
-
Light snow here and the temp has fallen to 33°. Have a solid dusting on elevated surfaces and mulch, and a bit on the grass.
