  1. Had a snow shower pass through but rates weren’t enough to overcome the 38° temps.
  2. 1.65” storm total. Getting an occasional snowflake now.
  3. Some snow is mixing in with the rain here. 38°.
  4. I’m a few miles southwest of Hagerstown. Wind has shifted to the NW and is picking up. 48° now, down from a high of 52. DP is 47. Still raining with 0.55” in the bucket.
  5. I’m 60 years old and I’ve seen countless storms like this in mid December. It’s a product of the pattern. I don’t think you should read too much more into it than that.
  6. If the Washington-Jefferson snowstorm of January 1772 happened today, it would produce major urban and small stream flooding.
  7. I had 4” of snow on October 29, 2012 and 3” on April 18, 2022. How much more warming has to happen to turn those events into rain storms ?
  8. So, because the average temperature has increased by a couple of degrees over the past half-century we need to add those same couple of degrees to each discrete event from years past ?
  9. Having spent that winter in PG County, I was surprised when I moved to this area to discover that Martinsburg actually recorded a 20” winter. A heavy snow in late December was the one real “clean” event, and other times there were reports like 5” of snow out of 2.5” of precip. At least the folks measuring were doing their diligence.
  10. Lol. I measured 35.3” in that storm. Snow stayed on the ground for more than two weeks.. even after a week, I still had more than a foot of snow depth.
  11. Another morning in the teens. Low of 17.
  12. 16°. Coldest morning so far. Edit: low fell to 14
  13. That 1/29-30 storm is one I’ve always regretted missing. Wasn’t quite 3 years old at the time. But in conversations over the years with folks from suburban Maryland, they described it as a pretty fierce storm with a combination of frigid temps, heavy snow, strong winds and exceptionally high drifts.
  14. Already down to 28°. Forecast low is 24. I guess clouds come in later ?
  15. 2.67” was my largest one-day total here since 9/2/2021
  16. Steady rain at 37°. Just hit 0.25” for the morning so far. Edited: lost another 2 degrees in the past hour. Now down to 35 at noon.
  17. 1965 was dry leading in, like this year. Probably most similar in terms of precip of all your analogs preceding the cold season.
  18. Surprised neither of those events in November 1995 amounted to an inch at BWI. Thought I remembered more snow than that when I was living in that area.
  19. It’s November 13th. The writing is clearly on the wall
  20. Dense freezing fog here at 29°. Visibility less than 1/8 of a mile. The forecasted low temperature for this morning was 35.
  21. Thanks! Good to see you posting. Hope you and the family are well.
  22. Driest years on record (since 1926) at Martinsburg, WV 21.41" - 1930 22.13" - 2023 (through yesterday) 26.32" - 1991 27.75" - 1969 28.43" - 1947 28.57" - 1957 29.55" - 2001 29.96" - 1964
  23. For my neck of the woods, we look to be on track for the 14th November in the past 17 years with total precip for the month below the long-term mean. Only AN months in that time were in 2011, 2018 and 2022. At MRB, the mean for the entire period of record (since 1926) is 2.85” but since 2000 it has only been 2.46”
