Yeah it wasn't a big deal. A little thunder and the rain wasn't as heavy as what we got in the afternoon. The stuff to the southwest looks pretty intense though, so looking forward to that.

Not sure anything significant is gonna make it to NYC either, but we knew all along that this pattern favored west of the city.

At the moment there isn't anything on track to hit NYC/LI. The downpours in eastern Union are moving more north. Hopefully things will change later since NYC/LI hasn't had much luck during this stretch of rain chances, but the latest HRRR isn't very optimistic about much making it to NYC/LI for today/tonight.

Temp dropped to 70 here during the downpours, but it's already back up to 80. Hopefully we're destabilizing the atmosphere enough for the storms later. On a side note, the July 4th weather looks great right now. Over a week away so hopefully that will hold.

Yep I got another heavy downpour. I'm up to 0.53" for the day now after yesterday's 0.56".

I just got into the northern edge of this cell and got a brief but very heavy downpour that dropped a quick third of an inch of rain. Almost an inch of rain here now between the last 2 days so I'm happy.

Yeah I can hear the thunder to the south. I'm going to be right on the northern edge of this storm but I see it's going right over your area.

Nice. I ended up with .56 here. Not bad. Made up for all the misses earlier in the afternoon.

LOL. Yeah I made the same mistake thinking it would miss. It appeared to be moving north when it formed, but then it drifted east. This downpour ended up being much better here. It's still coming down and we might end up getting a half inch out of it. Happy to finally get hit, but I know a lot of people in our area are still missing out. Hopefully it'll be more widespread tomorrow.

Yeah since you're a few miles to my north I figured you were getting hit. Just on the edge of it right here. A decent amount of thunder but the downpour was too brief to give much rain. I'm glad you're finally getting hit. It did just start pouring here and I see some backbuilding on radar with this storm, so I'll have to see if this downpour lasts more than just a few minutes.

The storm did just make it to the extreme northern part of our County and I ended up being on the edge of it. A little brief downpour that dropped a quick tenth of an inch of rain. Obviously not enough to help very much. As you said we need more widespread clusters, and hopefully that'll happen the next couple days.

Just finished my run outside and a lot of thunder and dark skies to the west. Pretty good storm in Somerset County but it appears it's gonna stay just to my west. Yet another miss by a few miles today. What a steambath out there ... frustrating to not get any rain out of this.

Yeah based on the way radar looked, I figured your home in Plainfield mostly got missed since you're just slightly north of me. Let's hope for better luck tomorrow. Would be horrible to go through this entire period without any significant rain, but that seems unlikely since it looks more widespread the next couple days.

Somehow I managed to not even get 1 drop, despite storms being only a few miles away in almost every direction. Almost funny. Slight chance something else could hit later today, but hopefully we'll have better luck the next few days. Storm chances are really gonna drop late week, so hopefully the next couple days won't disappoint.

Yeah you'd think with a chance so many days in a row, odds are high that my area will get hit one of the days. It's crazy though to have my area being missed by storms by a few miles in every direction right now. I thought the one just to the south might hit me, but I see it made enough of an east drift that it will probably miss. Hopefully better luck tomorrow since the activity is expected to be more widespread.

I see there is another one just to the south that appears to be going over Allsnow's area. That one is moving north so it should hit me shortly.

Hearing thunder here from a cell just to my east. Another just popped up just to my west. Hoping one will hit my area today.

Three days into this pattern with rain chances, and only .23 of rain so far here. Hopefully we'll have better luck the next several days.

I got .11 from that small downpour earlier. Based on the way radar looks, it appears that HRRR is going to correct about most of the activity missing to the west today.

Just had a decent little downpour here, but too small/brief to give any meaningful rain. Hoping to get some heavy rain today or this weekend, but the activity is gonna be scattered so who knows. HRRR says most of the activity will stay west of our area today and tomorrow, but hopefully we'll get lucky.

Yeah it just doesn't look like the widespread heavy rain event that models were showing a few days ago. The steady rain for this morning failed and now it's just gonna be scattered activity the next few days. Of course some areas will get lucky with heavy downpours and will get a good amount of rain, but there will be other areas that get very little. Hopefully we'll get lucky here, but my expectations are pretty low now.

I actually watered the garden yesterday in case today didn't work out. Glad I did. I'm so used to potential rain events disappointing here that I usually water to be on the safe side.

And now GFS has only about a half inch of rain for us by monday.

What a shock that another event might be falling apart, lol. Of course I have to say might because the models don't have a clue. Other models look better. RGEM gives us a decent amount of rain tomorrow, but who knows. Considering how incredibly dry it has been here since May 1st, it wouldn't be surprising if the NAM ends up right and our misery continues.

Euro not bad with the steady rain tomorrow morning. It gets about a half inch up to our area, with much heavier amounts for central to eastern Long Island.
