  1. Yeah it seemed as if we were in the clear since the activity to the north fizzled out, but then that 1 tiny cell popped up and went right over us. Had to delay the start of our cookout until that downpour passed around 6pm. I ended up with 1.84" for the day. Very nice, and thankfully it cleared out as expected and was dry for all the fireworks. The 4th is the best holiday of the year.
  2. Yup that's a great point.
  3. Rain just about as heavy as I've ever seen it. 1.60" in a short period of time. Close lightning strikes and 40mph wind gusts. Best storm of the season so far.
  4. Some close lightning strikes and strong wind as well. Very nice storm.
  5. Incredibly heavy. You can barely see outside.
  6. After several downpours missed, this last one is hitting my area thankfully. It's finally pouring here. Extremely heavy rain and some wind too.
  7. It only sprinkled here. Hoping I don't end up going through the whole holiday weekend without a downpour.
  8. Looks nice for your area. I think it's missing me by about 2 miles, lol.
  9. Yep that small cell in Union just extends down into the extreme northern part of Middlesex county. I'm right near the edge of it but so far no rain.
  10. Yeah I can hear the thunder to the south. Frustrating that they keep missing. There are a few more downpours to the northwest, so still some hope of getting something over the next couple hours.
  11. I had a 1 minute moderate shower here. Having a cookout later in the afternoon and fireworks tonight. The storm threat should be over by then, but I'm hoping to see a downpour in the next few hours. Only about a tenth of an inch of rain here so far for the whole weekend. Would be funny if I actually have to water the vegetable garden tomorrow after all the hype this weekend got for heavy rain.
  12. Only a tenth of an inch of rain. The wind was much more impressive than the rain with the storm here.
  13. Yeah the 18z run did a good job while the later runs moved it too far north. That shouldn't happen with a highly skilled very short range model, but we know that the HRRR is very erratic at times.
  14. Some nice 30 to 40mph wind gusts as the line moved in, but only light to moderate rain here as well. Right now as I type it just picked up to high end moderate rain.
  15. The line extends a little south of where HRRR had it. Heavy rain with the line well down into Hunterdon County right now. It's on track to hit us, but the question is will it hold together.
  16. And tomorrow the activity is gonna be widely scattered. We might get something tonight or tomorrow, or we might not get anything at all. We hope but who knows.
  17. Maybe, but RGEM and HRRR show decent potential for tonight. We shall see.
  18. Yeah I hope we get something decent tonight or tomorrow. The ground is already drying out again. We got a good amount of rain here during the last week of June and it certainly helped, but we still need a lot more after getting almost no rain all of May and the first 3 weeks of June. Still way behind in rainfall for the last couple months.
  19. Good to see that the models now get the rain out of the way late monday and are showing a dry 4th. I wouldn't rule out a couple pop ups, but overall it's looking good for the holiday.
  20. It felt good doing stuff outside this afternoon with the dewpoints in the high 50s. Much more comfortable.
  21. We're going to have our holiday cookouts on tuesday and wednesday. Looks as if that will work out best with the weather.
  22. A little better the next couple days with the dewpoints down around 60. We'll see if we can get them a little below 60. We might be able to get them down to the upper 50s tomorrow. Not bad. Dewpoints will be going back up over the weekend though.
  23. Yeah it was a nice soaking with the steady rain after the t-storm. I ended up with 0.73" here tonight.
  24. Yeah this was a nice t-storm because it had some decent wind with it. Had some 30 to 40mph gusts here along with the very heavy rain.
  25. A real steambath. It wasn't much fun running out in this today. Earlier in the Spring when we had a couple 90 degree days, it felt good running in that because the humidity was so low. What a difference the humidity makes. 90 with low humidity feels good while 80 with high humidity feels terrible. Anyway more downpours approaching. Should be another good soaking tonight. The good thing about this humidity is helped to produce the rain that we desperately needed. I'm looking forward to the lower humidity thursday though.
