The 2023 Lawn, Garden, Landscape Party Discussion
backedgeapproaching replied to Damage In Tolland's topic in New England
Yea--and unless the pic is deceiving, it looks like only 2ft off the ground..lol. But yea TBlizz-might be cold damage...all of my young maple trees that are roughly 8-10ft tall look like shit still...leaves totally wilted and drooping straight down. -

Man, gardens look like shiitte right now. Have 10 peonies not opened totally flopped over, Japanese maples look really bad too. Hopefully that stuff rebounds? Having started any veggie stuff, so now worries there. Davis said 26.3F -

Yea, that's what I thought too, are most in the region already done anyway? My two had no flowers again this year. Two years in a row. Three years ago tree was loaded. -

Nice. I knew there were some tools for it. My yard is too big and I have got lazy dealing with them and have gave up hand pulling, its impossible. Will try that. -

They are hard to yank out, got a pretty long tap root and if you don't get it all, it will come back. I always seem to just break the tap root root. But yea, are far as lawn "weeds" go, they come and go pretty quick. They do self seed like crazy though, so if they do bother you and don't do anything, they will only increase every year. Obviously we have a large dichotomy toward lawns care on here of full on natural approach like you, and other end of spectrum of full chemical. I dont think either side will ever turn the other...lol. I try hard as possible for a hybrid approach doing as much organic as I can, but still some spot treatment when needed and some fert. -
Oh 100% on me. I normally have those bags sealed up airtight in a container. I went out after I got the alarm from the cam and my neighbors dog was out and was literally nose to nose with bear barking, the bear then went flying up the tree prob 20-30ft. Pretty intense. You can hear my neighbor in this vid..lol. #caughtonNestCam. https://video.nest.com/clip/e28b3235abdd4504b26af8d1fddf609a.mp4

Anybody verify that 2ft pack in Groton? Must be uber weenie spot, high up, north facing slope in the woods?
-
Have to go in the A or A- range just because of the stats: 1 30"+ storm 1 20"+ storm Max Peak depth 120.1"-second highest total Was not a wire to wire winter, but most are not. Last patch hanging on..

Yea, this was a good swath of 30-40" totals, not just 1 or 2 one-offs. 1888 for sure basd on what we know i think for sure. Not sure of many other modern day storms? There are also alot more people reporting totals now, so pre social media and cocorahs there would be 1 or 2 random COOPs reporting for a large area sometimes. -
55" with a couple smaller events missed because I was away. His location I would think 70ish" last 30 days makes sense.

31.8" on 2.27" liquid Cocorhas guy up the road from me officially came in with 40.0" at 1800ft. My plow guy is ignoring all my texts which is pissing me off...lol. -

Had 7.8" with .46LE at 7pm. 28.0" total on 2.27" LE total. 34-36" OTG, most I have had personally OTG I think ever. Prob close to 30" total now I would think with good flakes still. Def one of my favorite storms, paster makes it bit more unusual for here. -

Lol, I know. I was talking more about getting the official record in the books. Obviously that needs to be done a certain way I guess. -

Yea, I think "official" is 42 in 24. Supposedly either Peru or Landrgrove VT reported 44" in 2020, but like I mentioned ALY said no. -

Dec 2020 supposedly broke the 24hr I think right near here, but ALY tossed it, can't remember why. Prob not following what you said above. -

9.7" on .74" LE at 1pm measure. 20.2" so far. Still pounding. Power off and on 5 times at least. Anything over 20" goes into all timer status in this valley. Getting deep for the lowlands. -

Prob not 70" in the last month, only a couple reports even near 50" since Feb 1 in the entire state of VT on Cocorahs. Obviously retention is great there and is it has been a decently snowy stretch.
