  1. Pixie dust snow showers still going since about 9pm last night, picked up another 1/2inch or so but hard to tell with how much is blowing around Winds finally died down a little (average of 5-8 mph versus 15-20 over the last 36 hours). Hoping the 0° windchill feels less biting than the -15° yesterday or I may have a 3 year old revolt haha Roads covered and very much a gamble without chains. Anyone in the chatt area get more snow last night? Curious if school with happen tomorrow, have my doubts
  2. Yeah flatop has a good 3-5" currently, pouring tiny flakes with drifts everywhere. Roads are completely covered and impassable without chains Current 8 with a windchill of -10, super fun snow to sled in but dang that cold hurts haha The amount of lake affect moisture caught up/swirling around in the rust belt headed our way is promising!
  3. Winds finally shifted from out of the southeast to out of the north in the last hour. Temps shot up to 32.9, thankfully power is back.
  4. Current 30 with .3-.5 ice accumulation. Winds are whipping and I can hear tree/limb falls everywhere. Still have power but not expecting it for long.
  5. Yeah winds are consistently from the south east. Currently treacherous to walk lol 26°
  6. Can really see the midlevel warmth on the 4:04PM Eastern Skew-T RAP imagery https://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/mesoanalysis/new/viewsector.php?sector=17&parm=pmsl&underlay=1&source=1#
  7. FWIW, last 32 hours mosaic radar and station plot temp contours https://ibb.co/8gqjrBs1
  8. So beautiful! Looks like were in a dry slot near chatt, still having some fine sleet/freezing rain under 0 returns. Temps slowly climbing to 27 in the last two hours, switching from out of the north to predominantly out of the east in the same time-frame Noticing the southern plateau is slightly warmer now as compared to valley/mid tn lower elevations.
  9. Quick question, looking at correlation coefficient out of Huntsville. Would the yellow streaks represent the sleet to freezing rain line?
  10. Oh wow! Is that the place right off 111/Lewis chapel? We've wondered if that is ever open Great place to be, kinda incredible the develope and gentrification going on. 4 years ago i had 2 neighbors within 1/2 mile of me. Now it's more like 20 lol, thankfully we have a large heavily forested lot so kinda still get the privacy. Hit me up if you ever have any questions! looking for a buddy to try some weather forecating via hang-gliding with haha
  11. Currently 24.6 up on wardens ridge between dunlap and soddy. Strangley enough we warmed up 5 degrees from 4-430 am then dropped back to 24 quickly Mostly sleet but every now and then we get a burst of snow. Sure looking like we will get a decent icing soon, hoping the impacts are not catastrophic over a large area. We would be a low priority to getting power back. I have a generator hooked to 500 gallon propane tank but we have had a lot of Californian's build dream houses around us this year and not one of them have planned it appears.
  12. Completely random but if you are bored ask Google Gemini to describe specific model runs and trends... Its kind of insane how much its improved recently. Absolutely not suggesting it is correct or should be relied on, more that is amazing that is can view model runs and discuss specifics on low placements. I set Gemini to give me an alert as soon as the 12z Runs are complete with an update on changes to the southern low placement, curious if its accurate and how quickly it is able to pull the information (or even where it is getting the info).
  13. FWIW, EUro Ensemble member lows seem to be ticking back south on the 06Z to my untrained eye. Very slight change but first buck of the northern trend...?
  14. Sorry for the image dump! Let me know if I should take this down Definitely see the warmer scenarios/warmnose more in the ensemble than deterministic euro
  15. Just got a surprise heavy snow/sleet storm going on currenty, loud enough I could hear it inside. Currently 21 so maybe I can get some tweezers to collect enough for one tiny snowman Going to enjoy this like it's all I get this season
  16. FWIW Let me know if this is to much of an image dump! As others have mentioned, maybe some snow signals around the 3rd and 7thish?
  17. You guys weren't kidding on the winds, weather station recorded a 30 mph gust (only counts a 5 second avg for gust speed) and temp dropped 12 degrees in 5 mins from 1010 to 1015 last night Interesting that the winds were from the north all day and flipped 180 degrees to from the south in that time period. Whipping fog at 60 degrees in heavy wind is awesome weather haha
  18. Hahaha I probably will when we start chasing the next big snow storm. It's hilarious hearing a 4 year old correct other kids on meteorology, be on the lookout for a future James Spann in the coming years
  19. Heaviest snow so far ongoing... eh flizzard is closer to accurate. Currently 30° with 0 radar returns. Incredibly fine flakes, nothing sticking yet
  20. Been spitting sleet for the last 2 hours, nothing sticking but pretty nonetheless. Currently 33 after a high of 40 around 6am. My 4 year old is not impressed with the "snow" and had a mini meltdown as he assumed snow meant feet deep... lesson learned haha
