  1. Getting a 12”+ storm is always going to be a tall order that requires a lot of luck, unless we’re in a west based moderate (or even strong) Nino with the perfect -NAO.
  2. I mean this fits with the post-2018 mid Atlantic storm tracks so why not?
  3. It happened in 1996, 2000, and 2011 so we’re kinda due for a Nina MECS like the 12z GFS had
  4. I’m guessing he’s referring to that little piece of energy on the H5 vort map that traverses the southern plains. That wasn’t really there on the 12z run.
  5. Yikes…. that is not only stupid but very reckless. Literally the easiest HECS to ever forecast. Guys like him give his profession a bad name.
  6. What did he forecast for that blizzard?
  7. Ended up with 3.4” here, still getting flurries. Late last night was solid and better than I expected. Very pretty scenes this morning.
  8. 2.4” and still snowing lightly. My earlier 2-2.5” call is looking right on point. We might go slightly past that range but most likely not by much.
  9. Closing in on 2” here! Let’s see if this can hit 3
  10. Snow is a bit more steady now. 1.1”
  11. Are you saying you got 6” of snow just in the last hour??
  12. The 3k NAM anticipates 1.5” IMBY by 7pm. Let’s see how well it does. It is calling for nearly 5” total here which is very overly optimistic, but I’m hoping for the best.
  13. Radar seems to be looking a little better around Baltimore.. is it making any difference so far?
  14. Grass, mulch, roofs, and most non-paved surfaces are starting to cave. Basically a dusting now.
  15. I’m meh about that storm because I was 4 years old and I don’t remember it. Looked like a fun storm based on the maps.
  16. Light snow getting started.
  17. There is no such thing as “deserving” snow. Nobody is entitled to snow. It’s just something we hope to see, and where some places get more than others. But the atmosphere will do what it does.
  18. I think Lutherville-Timonium counts as Northern Baltimore, since it is north of the beltway, and if you enter 21093 to the LWX forecast then it shows Northern Baltimore advisories. But it is close, and in borderline situations it’s worth knowing what LWX says for both Northern and Southern parts of the county.
  19. This is my first time working at the office at my current job on a day that it starts snowing later. I wish my job made an announcement beforehand, but they did not, so here I am. Rush hour should be fun. Snow will be falling, but not too heavy.
  20. I’ve always had a soft spot for Richmond, especially since they went many years without any real snow (not even the 2-4” events we roll our eyes at) back in the 00s. And they got relatively shafted in 2009-10. As for this storm, I’m keeping my expectation where it is. I think we’ll do better than the M/D line crowd. Nice to see it delivering in VA so far.
  21. I’m sticking to my 2-2.5” call IMBY. I don’t buy the most dire scenarios and so far things are looking juicy in VA. I think we’re in for a fun evening.
  22. I do believe, like Maestro, that it will be a big one that breaks our curse.
  23. Yeah but we will have a much better upper level setup this time around.
  24. It will end at some point, but until then, here we are. And this will be my last post on this topic ITT as I don’t want to fret any further.
