On 9/16/1986, while a spinner occurred at 635am in Scituate MA, it was snowing in NNE w/ 2" at Glen NH. I recall it well b/c during tstms in ern MA, it was so cold during them!

Storm cells nearby racing at uncommon speeds this nox (overnight). Nice MCS hitting Barrie coming in from the SE. I'm at least 50 min drive from the nearest current cell and I can see tepid lightning already no thunder. This setup I can already tell is juiced as hell; 23C/22C DP that is seriously impressive for nox on Sept 2! EC put us under a svr watch for hail up to golf balls and 90 km/h winds. I've had basically zip for real storms all summer. They danced around me only giving thunder and heavy downpours. Its fun seeing how my main summer months now for years are absent of anything - its all in the shoulder months like March, April, and late summer like now.

Sometimes quite localized areas get repeatedly hammered. Looks at just RI, ern MA, an Downeast ME Jan-Feb 2015. It was relentless! But regarding snowstorms and the synoptic scale, the odds of them all just whaling on this small part of New England for 6 weeks? That pretty incredible, YET it happened!

Did remember to start up in this thread. Ended up with 8.06" of rain for August. And as an obs for yesterday, I did manage to hit 90 after a 72 low. Last evening was an almost continuous lighting show and the precip blobs were impressive but I only got a whopping 0.02" from that. i noticed the line was moving fast so that might have cut down on the totals here. My sis, BIL, and nephew were at the Linc at a Bruno Mars concert last night. The Tamaqua Split held strong last night. It sure looked like I was going to be under the gun for a good chance for a good storm, but some cells moved northeast of me, while the main area moved southwest. End result? No lightning, no thunder, and 0.05" of rain...

You got Edouard instead. Did you weenie out tracking it on radar all night last night, and say, "when is this thing going to intensify!" It took its time and waited until the last min!

Mesonet Station FW9014 in Livingston Texas just reported sustained TS winds at 39 mph with gusts into the mid 50s in the remnant core Meanwhiloe Livingston Reservoir is reporting a sustained wind of 46 mph! I think the downgrade to TD came way too early based on these current observations of at least TS conditions

I will objectively say, the first part is perhaps the best I have ever seen when it comes to an "VOR" approach. First, how quickly the tor intensified. Second, inflow "swirlies" well beyond the condensation funnel, and third, the radial inflow sfc jets apparent ("ghost train") apparent that can do wicked damage outside the condensation base. As @CoastalWx would say, "VIOLENTLY BEAUTIFUL!"

@CoastalWx had a similar experience and was like this guy A wicked close strike hit the utility pole just outside when he lived in Dorchester, and he got shocked while he was on his PC (probably browsing AmrWx!). He was quite in shock and awe (couldn't stop talking about it when it came into work). And then the utility pole would not stop arcing!

Based on radar and some of the wind observations today with the highest gusts being recorded inland from port Arthur, Nederland, to Beaumont, it seems almost likely the storm continued to strengthen for a period after landfall, contrary to NHC estimates

Storm totals so far with the worst falling between Warren and West Livingston. Storm motion is slowing, but the circulation is holding together quite well.
