richm20
What a disappointment here in North shore (Western) Nassau. When I say disappointment, I mean based on expectations for this particular storm. That said, very happy with this snow

TJW014
Successfully napped off the migraine. There's easily another 3-4" on the roofs of the cars in the yard. Big 2' drift in between them. Peak gust of 52 mph. Still have yet to see a crusher of a band on top of me. Think the only thing saving the snow total are the higher ratios. This new stuff I can't pack into a snowball. I'd guess 15:1?

Bxstormwatcher360
Parts of Nyc would hit 30 inches if the consolidation zone/battle sets up over the metro. That would be epic. Next couple of hours after the lull might be pure winter insanity.

Rwes1
This is impressive. Absolutely ripping out here right now! if another 8”+ come down on top of this it’s going to be unreal, and seems probable.
Roger Smith
This snowstorm falls during an interval of relatively weak daily snowfall records and 2-day snowfall totals. You may have read earlier that the Feb 22nd record of 6.0" (2008) at NYC was broken (8.8"). Today's record is even weaker, 4.8" fell on Feb 23, 1972. That seems likely to go as well. The record 2d snowfall for Feb 22-23 is already broken too, that was the 6.0" value from 2008 but also 5.8" fell in 2001 (5.5" 22nd + 0.3" 23rd). The record for Feb 24 was also a low one, 6.0" fell in 1907. Following the snowfall in 1972, record high temperatures were set on March 1 and 2. (73F, 72F) ... the remainder of March then turned quite cold and it remained chilly in April, fairly warm in May, and near-record cool in June when Hurricane Agnes did its inland loop. I recall that later into spring 2008 there was a succession of heavy snowfalls into northern New England and eastern Canada.

RU848789
As of 3:00 am, we have 12.5" in Metuchen, so 1.7" the last 2 hours and that 12.5" is a guess. the area my board was in has drifted over, so I can't use that. In the past when this happens I try to take a bunch of measurements and average them, away from obvious drifts and scoured out areas, but it's tough. In the morning before the snow is over I'll take a ride (or walk, it's close) over to a local field and check there. Down to 29F. Also did my 3rd shovel of the storm - I do that every time we get to about 4" as that's a good number for me to shovel without crazy effort. I didn’t loose power for Sandy, and for more than a couple hours at any time that I’ve been at this location in the past 25 years. That said, hope I haven’t jinxed myself.

viking70
just went outside on my covered porch. Though we face west-east. I am a snow man after 10 minutes being outside with the wind driven snow coming from the north blowing under the porch roof. It is dumping. It is a blizzard in terms of visibility. Forget a 1/4 mile. I could sometimes barely see 100 ft.
