Woke up several times with nightmares from Saturday. The next time some says DS with a potential storm, I’m taking my wife and kids and leaving for Florida

I just wonder how long we will have to wait now for a 6+ event in Raleigh itself.

It’s going to torch today. We have gone from 12 to 28 already, the last of Saturdays nightmare might be gone by this afternoon

Wake County will cancel schools for anyway for tomorrow though, out of "an abundance of caution". <_<

I haven't posted on the forum in years, but this felt like the right time to join the cliff diving thread. This snowstorm has me thinking we live in a simulation. I measured 1.5" at my house.  WRAL actually used a picture from my neighborhood in their story discussing what caused the snow hole.  Take a look at this snow totals map, and it's pretty easy to guess where my house is.

It feels almost worse than December 2000 did in some ways. I am sorry that happened to you for sure.

Im gonna be on an island, but i HOPE this next minor event trends NW away from Charlotte so 85 north over to Wake get the snow and CLT just rains. I need a break.

Run it back in two weeks.

Nah I’m with you and also in Charlotte. We need a break, so we thaw enough to make it out on the road again. Two storms back to back along with a possible third, and that’s the definition of too much of a good thing.

I wouldn’t mind to be in the screw zone this time like we usually are.

I feel for the people in the screw zone, but at least some still had a sense of humor. Van Denton of WGHP asked people to send in the amount of snow along with their location. A lot sent in pictures of a measuring tool in the snow to visually give their amount. A Triad person had his Wake County brother take a picture which he submitted for him.

I am ready to move on to severe season being nothing will make up for the screw job on 1/31. Once you get past Valentine's Day it gets a lot harder to get anything worthwhile in most years.

I remember several years in a row in the 80s when the first week of March saw snow that got us out of school. I can't imagine that happening anymore.

Heck, I remember in about 1977(?) when my grandparents were visiting us for Easter and my father woke them up playing Jingle Bells on the stereo because in the first week of April a storm dumped about 6 inches of snow on Floyd, VA.

Sad trombone. Climate change. Eat at Arby's.

February snow generally sucks unless it’s a coastal with heavy rates or at night. Even last years storm didn’t stick on roads until sunset even though it was in the mid 20s

That is true. It is only good if it is a paste job for photos. Half the reason I got so upset about this last one is because of missed photo ops with a big one in Raleigh that could have caught on.

So my question to everyone else who endured the dry slot is did this feel worse than December 2000 to you, better, or about the same?

December 2000 takes the cake. We went from 12-18” to literally nothing and had no clue it was a total fail until well into the day of. This one we knew the dry slot was likely on top of us, it just sucked bc it snowed a lot literally 360 degrees around us
