Carvers Gap
We had some light snow showers here as well this morning. The snow moved out about 10:00AM. About 5 minutes later, the wind started howling at 20-25mph sustained. I was out running and hit a headwind which slowed me down and about turned me into a popsicle. Wind chills are COLD! What a sharp contrast to last week.
Jed33
Had a decent snow shower just now at the house and must have missed one while we were at church bc there is a small dusting in spots in the grass up next to the walkway here at the house.

Jed33 Posted yesterday at 03:24 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:24 PM The west end of Morristown near MRX picked up a decent little dusting overnight. Nothing on my end of the county though. Skies cleared out and bottomed out at 18. When I just drove to the west side of town right now I noticed the snow started showing up more and more the further west that I went. I did notice a small streamer in that area around 5AM this morning. That area is somewhat favored in NW flow. It can do pretty well for the valley in these events. 2

Noticed that and thought about you when I was driving up 81 this AM. That was really the only pace I noticed anything appreciable from Morgan county to Kingsport. Bays Mt band is no bueno this AM, but I did get some nice pics of Chimney Top:
Holston_River_Rambler Posted yesterday at 03:32 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 03:32 PM And of course as soon as I get to Kingsport, it looks like something is trying to start up in the right area:
Holston_River_Rambler Posted yesterday at 03:43 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 03:43 PM Desperation has set in. 100 second time lapse aimed generally upwind of the Bays Mt band:

Western end of Lee County had measurable Snow. .5-1.0. Northern section on Wise Plateau as well. A very light dusting here in central Lee County.
Holston_River_Rambler Posted yesterday at 05:35 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 05:35 PM Bays mt. band looks to be starting up a bit now, I will try to drive through it heading back to MoCo.
Holston_River_Rambler
Managed to get a few pics of the band as I drove home: I 81 southbound near mm 56 Looking SW from intersection of Wilcox Dr and John B Dennis: I don't think this was an optimal time, but there was some precip in the area the band sets up. Also @Carvers Gap: I may have brought some washing machine bad luck back to Morgan County, lol: 2
John1122
We had around 1/2 inch this morning above about 1600 feet, around 8ish. Ended up causing school to be canceled.

GBOVolz
Did you all see the wreck in Cookeville yesterday on I 40? They had a very heavy squall move through that initially melted, and then froze back causing terrible situation. . 1
Jed33
I saw a video of the snow squall but didn’t see the wreck. My goodness that’s right up there with one of the worst! You’d expect that if there was a ton of snow or ice but sometimes the smallest amount of ice sneaks up on you. Wow!
Jed33
It was 13° this morning when I left my house at 5:15. I’m not sure if it went any lower or not. The clouds moved in so it may not have. We’re on the way to Banff and Lake Louise to ski and board this weekend. Currently in Chicago, where there’s probably 1-1.5in on the ground and the unused roads and runways are covered here. Anyways, I’ll be pulling for everyone to score tonight!

It was more expensive to replace than it was to by a new one. We installed the new one yesterday...modeling was good today. I am not saying it is the new washer, but if we get two new washers in the forum....could be epic. Maytagmegeddon.

Holston_River_Rambler
Strange, spectral (something related to lenticular?) clouds over Morgan and Roane counties: Apparently the mother ship was about to land on LeConte around noon:
