colonel717 Posted yesterday at 02:40 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:40 PM Looks like that band is moving slightly north. Should be over me shortly. I am stuck just south of the secondary band. Should be filling in.
TimB Posted yesterday at 03:11 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:11 PM Absurd that they just rolled with special weather statements for those areas and never even thought about advisories.

Hope that band thru Wash CO just comes a few miles north. I think there are several on this board right along AGC and Wash Co border who would benefit. As I recall, that wasn’t an entirely lake effect event, that was lake streamers on the back end of a synoptic event that would have otherwise busted badly. Burghblizz Posted yesterday at 03:29 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 03:29 PM 10” in Jefferson “the burb of the Burgh” County Oh. Thats about 30 miles west of airport. Band is drifting north. Hopefully some others cash in. Certainly won’t have the extended training.

It has been beautiful bigger flakes. Just ripping snow now. Looks like the lake connection is being disconnected. Once this long band goes thru that could be it for a while. colonel717 Posted yesterday at 04:49 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:49 PM Just measured a new 1.25in brings me right up to 5 inches so far. Since it was over 2 days does that count... . Here I was hoping I'd get 5 inches all week with the clipper included and could possibly double that. Nice to see other areas around the city are starting to get some squalls
TheClimateChanger Posted yesterday at 04:57 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:57 PM Only about an inch here this morning, but it's snowing very heavily now and rapidly accumulating. Wonder if we'll get a snow squall warning?
colonel717 Posted yesterday at 05:23 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:23 PM Looking longer term, don't like the trend of last few runs. The ops models are now showing great lakes cutters around day 10. Seems as soon as people start talking up the big snow chances the models go to pot... RitualOfTheTrout Posted yesterday at 05:23 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:23 PM Glad to see some LES lottery winners! Only about a half inch here, but may briefly get a piece of that band before it dissipates / drifts north.

Gordo74
Forecasts seems to have bumped up to 4”+ around this way. With the 1.5” we have on the ground already, this will provide a nice blanket for the week with the weather. Nice to have snow on the ground again and be getting chances over 1” rather than what it’s felt like the last few years of chasing anything.
Burghblizz
2.3” before midnight to be a top 10 December. That would make 2 top 10’s in the last 5 years. If the airport was 20 miles south, this would be even more. Really solid considering mostly northern stream systems and LES. https://x.com/nwspittsburgh/status/2006357818778206610?s=46
Burghblizz
I think an inch or two is possible with this appetizer batch, especially north of the city. Not the heaviest snow, but it’s steady and very fluffy.

Although I'm gonna have to call foul on the airport (actually the NWS office in Moon) being moved 20 miles south, since it already did better than probably 75-80% of the area with the last event. It doesn't need to be the jackpot for every event.

TimB
If the official observation today ends up being at least 3”, it’ll be just the second December with 4 days of 3+ inches of snow (the other was 1960, which was part of a 76” winter). If we can get to 3.5”, it’ll be the first time we’ve had 4 days of 3.5” on December.
