strongwxnc
Full transition. Light snow. 36° It’s all about the radar. It’s really squeezing it out as it comes down on the lee side. .
calculus1
Still nary a flake in Hickory. The radar returns evaporate as soon as they approach the Catawba River (marking the boundary between Caldwell and Catawba counties).
calculus1
Check that! We have a few orphan flakes floating down now! You have to wait 10 seconds in between flakes, but they are present. Nice! (It's amazing with what poor snowfall rates will create excitement when you have been snow-starved for so long...)

strongwxnc
Last little bit of moisture coming through I was hoping to squeeze a flake, but nothing. Temperature did drop a couple degrees. And it sure does look like snow but all brown ground..

BooneWX
I’ve had snow here for about an hour. It’s very light but steadily falling. Looks nice with the Christmas lights.
BooneWX
@wncsnow I think I’m coming around to your thoughts about the pattern. I’m not completely out on the next few weeks producing but this current setup with a cold Alaska, slack ridge heights out west and a strong northern stream just isn’t going to cut it unless we get lucky. We need help in the Atlantic too. It stinks to have this much cold on this side of the globe without any fantasy storms but here we are. I’m sort of wondering as well, if what comes after a complete shake up, could be a better version of this. Inject some volatility and get these big blocking mechanisms in the Pacific moving around a bit.

WNC_Fort
It’s snowing this morning? Tiny flakes but heavy. Enough to cover the cars and elevated surfaces pretty quickly.
