He built a weather tower on his property and everything. Was super smart. I talked to him a lot back in the day and then he just disappeared. Used to be active all the time, I'd say back in 2012-13 You must be talking about Beau Dodson. I think he still lurks here from time to time. I vaguely remember seeing him post something a couple of years ago. https://beaudodsonweather.com/

Not surprised he's made a career of it.
iluvsnow
Saw a -25 on a Wundermap observation location just NE of Columbus just after 8 this AM. Many locations in the minus teens. Perfect radiational cooling. I wonder if the overnight lowest temps in the lower 48 might be in Ohio. A rare feat if it happens.
buckeye
I woke up around 5:00am and it was -10. I’m sure there had to be some areas in southeast Ohio in the ‘hollows” that were -20. Or less. This cold wave is brutal…and downright incredible for the southern states. I can’t imagine the amount of broken and frozen pipes and misery going on not to mention the insane electric bills some of these people are going to be facing next month. The crazy thing is there is no end in sight. That first 40 degree day is going to feel like short sleeve weather!

We literally may never see another winter like this in our lifetime. Note rankings below are for the airport site only. Meh, I’m 60 and looking at that table there were 6 times in my lifetime that we’ve had more snow up to this point. To me. I consider once in a lifetime something that happens once every 50 years or more. Blizzard of ‘78 being a perfect example of a once in a lifetime storm.
