We've seen them in late March before.  Early, but not extreme, I'd think.

The first one that comes to mind is 3/1/17. We were actually under an enhanced risk for severe that day. Beyond that, I can think of several instances in the past few years where we’ve not only seen them in late March, but in January and February. Every month is thunderstorm season around here.

Also interested in seeing if we can get one or two more minor snow events over the weekend or early next week. GEFS ensemble mean is 3” through this time next week. Just don’t see any obvious signals for a snow event, though the cold will be there.

Warm day today, but only one record in the region. The high temperature at Wheeling reached 79 degrees, besting the previous record set in 1910, 1936 & 1946 by one degree. A couple other sites were within a few degrees of the records, but Pittsburgh wasn't particularly close since it was a handful of degrees cooler than places to the south and west and the existing record was a lofty 82.

Looks like this week is a carbon copy of the last four.  Cold weekend warming up and peaking Wednesday-Thursday, then a crash on Friday with rain and snow into the weekend.  Very boring pattern.

Would think week 2 looks a lot more consistently springlike. Wouldn’t be surprised if we hit 80 before Easter, though it’s entirely possible the warmest days come midweek that week too.

Hopefully, a little more sunshine and warm vs. one nice day and 3-4 cold, wet days.

Will the weekend cold be a little less disappointing now that you’ve seen what the “warm” days have been like?

What?  No.  It looks exactly the same, lol.  This warm up this week isn't even all that warm.  Now if we get those mid 70s next week and sun, then that's what I'm talking about.  Doesn't look like a long warm spell next week, but if it's drier, that'd be good.

Not looking good for that kind of warmth at this point.  Maybe a couple days in the low 70s, but next weekend looks like ,at this time, a repeat of the last 4 or 5.

Yeah, doesn’t look too impressive as far as warmth, and daily rain chances will put a damper on even the warm days. I think we could get to 70 on Wednesday and/or Thursday depending on frontal timing but our first 80 seems like a massive long shot.

This past week underperformed due to clouds and rain. I expected several days well into the 60s and we never got any higher than 58. It seems this pattern is hard to shake.
