The only thing you can really gather from the NAM at this range is that it looks like there's a good chance for it to strengthen significantly over the next 48 hours.  After that it could be pure fiction.

Headed right between the islands and over the mid cape it looks like? Could turn right in future frames tho.

It's the NAM at HR 84.  Could be in Greenland or Louisiana next run.

At least now I don’t have to scroll Thru “crap” more than 8 seconds to see the latest important beer photos

What’s more important than beer photos?:D

That and 14 for 17 with RISP in past 10 games.  But each night it’s another guy.  Whitlock has been in rookie of the year discussions and of course he picks tonight to have his 2nd blown hold of the season.

Just said he needs to learn faster in the outing… said after they plastered a few hits Boggie came up to him and said they are ambushing fastballs.  He then struck next two batters out throwing just change ups.  Sucks to see him get hit a bit, he owned it after the game.

Barnes has just forgotten how to get batters out after he signed his contract extension at the All-Star Break.

Just terrible. Definitely looks like the team is running out of gas at the moment.

My beloved Yanks are hitting below the mendoza line as a team. I have no idea why

It's quite amazing how poor their offense is.  However, a lot of that rests on the fact they thought Stanton was good.  He's always been overrated IMO...

Lol. Wonder if Tip ever got his AC in. Lord knows he will need it this week. Dave should have just posted in the wx thread as its relevant.  Let's talk Red Sox, wait been lacking PFs in game analysis lately.  I wonder why.

No one wants to talk about the Red Sox right now because it ain't looking good.  They've been over performing all year, as many have mentioned.  Look at the pitching stats, especially peripherals like WHIP and you wonder how they have done this well in the first place.

Scientists that post here, like WhitinsvilleWX,  Radarman. What qualifies as a scientist?  Do I qualfy as a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science.  I am not embarrassed nor are many others. What she makes up is hogwash.  We are not thin skinned and understand people have a right to their opinions.  We live in a free and open society not an echo chamber.  I find it enlightening. So many times she has run with stories that turn out to be false over the years yet never retracts. Let them go to their echo chamber and we will continue on raising issues, posting links to contrary data and let the reader decide. Nothing at all wrong with debate, nothing wrong with not being a shill to a political party or belief. Lemmings gonna lem

Ginx, I whole-heartedly agree.  My only issue is the COVID talk is like 80%-90% of the thread.  To find something other than COVID talk being discussed you sometimes have to go back 5 or 6 pages, and it makes discussing non-COVID stuff impossible because you loose track of the threads.  I'm also not a fan of some other other posters from other boards coming in and ruining what's going on here, and making judgements and assumptions based on anyone voicing their opinion.

I like hearing/reading both sides of the issue.  I also think it's beneficial to anyone to hear what others feel, even if you personally may think it's ridiculous.  There's always the chance that someone may change their minds in either direction based on what we talk about.  Just imagine @Damage In Tolland kicking back a few IPA's and then suddenly decide he's going to get vaccinated based on @DotRat_Wx latest post, right? :)

I think the solution of having a COVID discussion thread works out for everyone - nothing is censored, and it's easier to see our Iceland photos, air conditioning instructions, and Cuomo talk without 80 COVID posts getting in the way of the discussion of these other topics.

Maybe I should go back into my cocoon.  I've stirred up the pot too much.

Let's discuss a less controversial topic... how are we all feeling about the existence of god these days...

Banter was never anything but current news and joking,  please...

You're right!  The last four pages of posting have been nothing but current news and joking...

Yeah, I would say banter separate from COVID, I like looking at pics from Iceland and don't really want to scroll through a bunch of COVID crap to be honest.

I concur. I feel strongly that people should be able to express their opinions. While the situation might be different in other subforums I think the COVID discussions are relatively friendly. I don’t mind reading what people are saying but  it would be nice to have more of a choice on when I want to read it if I want to read other banter instead.

The issue is that it’s washing out other discussions. We have no issues opening a new thread for a specific storm or weather topic for more focused discussion - the same should apply here.

That being said that’s just my opinion, from my perspective, and I would hope the people who post here in the forum much more often than myself have more of a weighted decision on the topic at hand.

Many of us regulars too just gave up and joined the convo, ha.  Not necessarily content police but nostalgia for the old ways of the forum.  You checked in as a way to escape real life issues and talk weather with other weather fanatics, vs. coming to hear thoughts on society’s problems and maybe discuss weather on the side.  But there’d also be 6 hours at a time between posts in the summer.

I agree though if we are going to do COVID convo just let everyone in the pool at once and see who drowns .

I think the main issue is that the banter thread, which is supposed to cover more random topics and discussion, is being dominated by COVID, and it's drowning out the other banter - plus there's many of us who just don't want to read about COVID opinions 24/7 but still want to check in here for the other topics.

So yes, there's a number of us that are more annoyed because it is being shoved down our throats in the banter thread.  Our choices are either read the COVID stuff in banter, or ignore the thread entirely.  The issue isn't the discussion itself, but it's such a heated topic and there's probably a good percentage of people who would rather read/discuss anything else.

Maybe the mods will allow a COVID discussion thread for the Fall.  They effectively cannot remove the COVID discussion from the forum so why not split it out?  This way we can discuss crotch rot and the Red Sox choking down the stretch without COVID getting in the way.  The way the forum is setup, the advice of "just don't read it" or "ignore it" is impossible unless you stay out of the banter thread entirely.

There is a thread in OT where people are taking bets on which poster here will get sick and die first. Maybe go tell them how that makes you feel?

I don't feel the need because I don't even know what OT is.  If it's outside the New England section I don't bother with it.  But feel free to let them know bristolri_wx thinks it's shitty that's what they are discussing while you're there...

Local sportsball team scoring 6 or more runs for first time since July 21st is good to see…. Even though there’s plenty of time to screw this game up with Junkball G pitching.

About time... but the bullpen is close to blowing a 4 run lead...
