    Barring major changes in the next day or so (let's just say) it'd be silly to hold onto plans for Amtrak DC to NYC on Saturday through Monday right? I have a good feel for DC in a foot of snow but not sure how crippling it would be in NYC or to Amtrak....

    1.5" now in Silver Spring, MD. Really have not had sustained moderate snow yet. Just light snow with the occasional burst.

    I don't even care to brave the cold to measure it, but it was enough to cover everything white again and smooth out all the rough spots from the kids playing. Beautiful morning.

    Honestly I'm expecting a lot to concede and close. Our neighborhood inside the beltway in MoCo is still completely unplowed and if MoCo has to decide based on the entire county.... I can see them deciding it is unsafe.

    Every time I look at the radar I think I must be one frame away from snow reaching the ground. Dying for the first flakes in Silver Spring / Four Corners.

    At least most of the school districts have backed off the "we will have virtual instruction on snow days" plans from 2021-2022.

    It's an awful headline from what should be a respectable source. It's not a forecast piece, it's a general purpose "what is an ice storm" article. The timing is rotten or needed a better headline.

    29.5 mixed sleet and freezing rain in Silver Spring. There's enough ice on the sidewalks to be slightly slippery, but not too bad. It ain't a white Christmas but closest I've ever had.

    I don't know how much fell, but there's 1/2” remaining on the deck here (Silver Spring inside Beltway). Everything looks more wet than snowy.
