Melting snow after a snowfall is pretty normal in your region. I was hoping living in a lake effect area would help keep it whiter (which it does), but we actually need some solid cold air to get decent snow from the lakes here...unlike the 'cold" that is mild Pacific/maritime air. I am a bigger fan of a consistent wintry look...which has become pretty rare over much of the U.S. these days.

Yeah, warm...warm...warm...yawn. Much of the Great Lakes region hasn't done very well the last several winters either. If snowstorms do happen, they melt a couple days later.

Really?? Ugh...so a pattern we've already been stuck in of warmer than average shifts to a new pattern of warmer than average again? Let it end.

I think there has to be much caution with "exposing as many young people as possible." Not sure what age bracket you consider as "young" though? For people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, Covid has been showing to cause some life-long damages to their bodies. This is that balance where I don't think young people should be forced to expose themselves just to increase contact and immunity, especially with the damage that can be done. The college students at these "college Covid parties" haven't exactly been helping this cause much. Like Burghblizz said above, we are trying to find that "fine line" of how to respond to this.

Australians too. I simply love the Aussies. I have had the honor of working with several during my life. And to think their amazing country started off with some criminals and convicts banished there....

Thanks for the response. I really believe the masks and social distancing have helped in the schools. I mean, really, it's amazing how little Covid has spread in the schools. There are other factors involved in that as well...I really think Covid was spreading in schools last winter and we didn't realize it. Just some personal things I observed at my school...and have heard from others.

Hey, wolf. I didn't say anything was wrong? It might be your assuming my attitude in how I wrote it? He said "everybody knows" they're pointless...so I responded with be prepared for percentages, because clearly not everybody knows or thinks that. Remember...I try to take a middle-ground approach.

Be prepared to get tables and graphs of percentages from the opposite of "everyone" on here.

That lady on the bottom left-hand side clearly wearing no mask.......wonder how many more like that were in the mall and across stores/malls in America. I am a bit surprised that the food kiosks are "allowed" to stay open in the middle of a packed mall. People HAVE to remove their mask to eat/drink. Sort of contradicts the point of requiring masks. My wife and I went to a creamery for our anniversary in October. They allowed you to sample ice cream. I "asked him for permission" to move my mask over to sample..it was just awkward. I know it wasn't off long at all...but the lack of consistency in mask wearing and social distancing is just confusing. I think it just adds to the attitude of some people that "This doesn't make sense" so they ignore and rebel against the orders.

You write novels on here with vocabulary I've never heard...but you use the wrong homophone. Just teasing...gave me a chuckle. I teach ELA to 3rd and 4th Graders, so my eyes are drawn to word usage. Happy Thanksgiving!

The farther away you get from the metropolitan areas, the fewer people know what antipasto is. Where I grew up in PA, Lancaster, this was not something found anywhere. But, where my dad grew up in Hazleton, it is everywhere. Hazleton has lots of connections to NYC and has a very large Italian population. I find cultural influences and how they spread to different parts of the country very interesting. Looking at your picture brings back memories of my dad ordering it whenever he went home.

Not dumb - Wolfie pasted a report in discussion about Biden and Trump...and their "connections" to Socialism and I responded. I am stepping out because I got involved in something that I hate talking about and try to avoid - politics - because it often goes nowhere. My apologies to all for getting involved and filling this thread with crap. I can only control myself and how I can help support others. I am not a policies person anyways. Good point. I am not condoning business owners stand around with their guns and anti-mask signs...I do, however, condone the SPIRIT of supporting one another financially and through services (however that may be). As mentioned, I love how people in my community wisely do that. As I always mention, it's about balance...and that's the true battle going on right now - how to stay open and stay afloat while following regulations. Even with all the support, I am saddened to see businesses closing down around here this past year. My heart is truly for people...not "what can I get out of it."

@wolfie09, the article about the Trump passing the CARES Act as socialism is humorous. These are extreme circumstances and he most certainly needed to help people. I can't imagine the Democrat response if he hadn't done anything. Biden "may be a moderate' but his Vice Presidential Elect certainly is not. Let's be real...Biden isn't going to be calling the shots.

I will say I am thankful to live in a community where the local New Yorkers truly care about their small businesses and support them in many wise and safe ways. Baldwinsville has lots of community support and pride.

So, I say I love our country because of small business support and you all get all riled up?? lol... Ok, New Yorkers. Maybe you're oblivious to how your own state government runs off anybody who tries to support a local business here. Nahhh, nothing to do with the raging liberals here. I completely support looking out for employees where businesses...especially CORPORATE America...needs some control, as they totally take advantage and dispose of people like they're trash..it disgusts me...which is one of many reasons I will not "stand" with Republicans.

When it comes down to it, many Americans love our rights to free enterprise...and it is something I love about our country. The ability to support one another through our businesses is such a fantastic thing. I wish there were some who understood that these local business owners are grasping at straws to stay afloat. One political part of Covid that is really boosting the Socialist agenda is the push to control these businesses. I fear that the next couple of years could see a demise of the amazing free enterprise that has shaped American culture and communities. This raising money for him is proof that many people do not want that to happen.
