  1. Yep, actually snowing pretty decently right now. Things are moistening up. We'll have to rely on what little effect we can get with the minimal cold we get...because Synoptic systems don't seem to take a track that hammers PA and much of Upstate NY anymore.
  2. No doubt. Winter of me watching it snow through webcams...in fact, watching it snow right now in Rochester through a webcam...lol
  3. Well, well, well...another waste of a winter week coming up. Wait til Dec. 5th...Dec. 8th..10th...16th...yawn. Some spots in the Finger Lakes look to be getting some good snow showers today. Checking out webcams, there are some snow-covered properties around those parts today.
  4. Lost a guy at my church to Covid this week as well. He was a 90 year old, jolly fellow.
  5. There was a "fiddler's club" that had a camp/center not far from where I was at. They were very active ...and expensive!
  6. Man, the hills in southern Madison county have been making out great with all these silly elevation-dependent events and "lake effect" events with strong winds that blow everything towards them.
  7. Yeah. Where does BW think he lives? The Rochester airport?
  8. I was JUST going to post about this! I heard it. I've been home sick this week (not Covid) and I was like, "did somebody just jump on my balcony?!" There is talk of it maybe being a meteor hitting our atmosphere. Most likely
  9. I am sooooo soo soo so glad I didn't take the job in Geneva. I love that town...but their climate...meh. The area, as I'm sure you know, from Dansville to Mt. Morris to Elmira and Corning is even worse and definitely not a winter lover's paradise!
  10. Currently....but forecasted to go in all their opposite directions by mid-month (at least on some models). In dealing with the cards in front of us, we've gotta get some play action in NOW.
  11. Hah! New York, Mid-Atlantic, and some talk on NE as well. Lots of discussion about just a brief call down mid-month...and then possibly back into a warm-ish pattern. When you look at where the forecasted indices are headed, it's not too exciting for winter. MJO isn't too much of an issue right now, thankfully. If we don't get the -EPO, I don't know how we're going to get much cold air to lock in for even a little while. It'll just be a continuation of the crapola we've been having during the past several winters.
  12. Good point. However, last year the ensembles promised great things...and we know how that went.
  13. @Syrmax Hah. What do we need to do to NOT have a bloody low move up through the Lakes? Oh...never mind...At this point, I am planning on going to Tennessee the week before Christmas. That's what we need to do. Get rid of me.
  14. What a train-wreck the GFS is in the long range. Low after low cutting up north and west. So tiiiiiired of this.
  15. Interesting...snowing harder here now after what's showing up on radar moved out. Working the way between 2 and 3 inches. I can tell the warm ground underneath is trying to melt it from below. I think I might just get to go for my first "fully snow-covered night walk" of the season tonight.
  16. Basically...it's nearly impossible for us to get a real snowstorm anymore. So many pieces of the puzzle have to fit just right.
  17. I was just about to ask about mid-month. Reading through some of the other subs, not many seem very enthusiastic about it anymore.
  18. That doesn't surprise me at all. This is one of those systems that has so many bands moving in different directions and reforming over random places. The amounts are going to be all over the place.
  19. I can tell the lake effect/influence has kicked in here. Sky got lighter and the snowflakes transitioned to those large, fluffy flakes that pile up quickly. The wind has also picked up. I can also see the echoes generating over the lake.
  20. Glad to read you guys got a good snowfall! It's been quite some time.
  21. Looks like a hefty snowband forming over Cayuga County right now and heading east. Won't last long...but will look great.
  22. Getting some moderate to at times heavy snow here right now. I think I will finally reach the 1st inch of snow this season within the hour.
  23. Been snowing some big flakes here in the Northwest Cuse burbs. Only about a half inch so far, but things are looking pretty good for more overnight.
  24. (Sticks foot in snow) "Uh, we got, uh, a foot of snow here at the ROC today..."
