There is no other mountain like it in the NE when there is a good base. In my humble opinion, best NE ski areas in order are: Sugarloaf Stowe Killington Wildcat Sunday River lots of runners up though...

Wow, that’s nice. that makes several arrests now for different fires out west. WTAF is wrong with people?Intentionally starting a fire that you know might burn out of control and kill people is full psychopath.

That is crazy, the fire just jumped completely over neighborhoods. What's amazing is where it hit there is just nothing left of those houses. The heat must have been insane to do that.

What benefit will come out of occupying Wall Street? Agents of chaos will come in, cause problems and the media will focus on that and make the entire movement look bad. Occupy Congress would be a better movement. Until we have campaign finance reform nothing will change. Our lawmakers are a bunch of millionaires beholden to corporate America. The same corporate America that completely controls what you see and hear in the media.

Haven’t really noticed here but my friend in San Francisco just texted me and said between the fog and the smoke at 9 AM it is basically like night time there. Surreal.

Hey heads up to Connecticut peeps my vet said that Fairfield County has reported the presence of Gulf Coast Ticks for the first time. They can carry spotted fever and some nasty canine diseases.

Need a higher res picture to enlarge but maybe a yellow mud-dauber? Unless it is a yellow jacket or white faced hornet nest I try to leave them alone. A lot of hornets and wasps are good for killing non-beneficial insects. "Solitary" ground wasps/hornets are generally beneficial for the local ecosystem.

A few years ago we got our house completely re-insulated and sealed plus all new lightbulbs for free through the MassSave program. they also gave us a no interest loan for a new furnace. People should definitely take advantage of these programs while they are active. I wish we could’ve taken advantage for the great solar programs in Mass but our yard has a few too many trees.
