    It is what got me to start keeping a weather diary/report, which I still do to this day.

    That was the sound heard here in Oct 9/10 1979 when 4-10 inches of heavy wet snow fell on still leafed out (but turning) trees. Just the continuous pop, pow, snap, bam from trees breaking.

    30.8/30.1 and light freezing rain here, getting a small glaze already on non snow covered objects.

    At work, just looked out. Snowing pretty good, roads covered and I'd estimate 2 inches.

    After being rain and temp near 37 all day have switched over to a snow/sleet combo and temps falling, currently 35.9/33.1.
