Sun is starting to lighten the sky thru the clouds here. We be done after 4-5 hours of intermittent very light snow, never more than a coating on everything. Finally broke above freezing at 33.2/29.0.

Nothing spectacular, but I have flurries and a few sleet pellets falling in last hour and currently 26.2/22.4. So definitely a bit further west than even the models showing.... I'm 15 miles off WV line.

Although not a giant storm (10"), the 10/10/79 storm cemented my love of snow and weather in general due to the 'surprise' factor and damage caused. Been keeping records since that day.

36 with fog and rain here. That and the 47 high yesterday about did the snow in, a few scattered north facing spots have a bit, which will be gone later today.

Just did my monthly numbers so I have it handy here. 13 mornings in the teens and another 4 in single digits, over half the month. 18.6 when averaged out over the month. 6 days never rose above the freezing mark and another 5 days just clipped it topping out at 33.

Agree. 15.9 inches of snow and snow cover for 18 days, 24 if you want to count the "T's" where the ground was at least white at 7 am, and running about a -4 temp wise on the month. ZERO complaints here after the way the month started on the 1st and 2nd......

January 28-29 2022 Miller abcdefu Storm Obs/Discussion

Same here. Light snow for about 5 hours yesterday with hardly anything to show for it. Then it switched to sprinkles for about two hours before going back to snow after 6 pm and finally accumulating a bit (0.4, lol) but the roads and hard surfaces had a tough time even then with 'stickage'. -
Time to toss another log on the fire @jonjon

LOL at NWS Blacksburg forecast discussion... National Weather Service Blacksburg VA 640 PM EST Sat Jan 22 2022 .LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/... As of 300 PM EST Saturday... A mammoth area of high pressure (near 1040 mb as it crosses from Canada into the northern Plains), is expected to expand south and east across the central and eastern CONUS for mid- week bringing another round of bitter cold. The airmass is similar to the last one with temperatures of M20-M30 deg C across the Great Lakes and Ontario and M10 to M20 degrees C into the Ohio Valley and New England. The mid- Atlantic will once again have an opportunity to test the single and sub-single digits (deg F) for overnight lows beginning Wednesday night with daytime highs failing to climb above freezing. Wednesday and Thursday appear to be the coldest days with some moderation toward the weekend. Another complex northern stream and southern stream shortwave tag-up is possible for Friday...but if past trends are a reflection, the southern stream feature may once again get suppressed. There always seems to be a model member that forecasts a stormagedon in the long range... so be careful little eyes what you see. The chicken littles will come out to play. At some point the outlier will be right, but keep in mind a blind hog will find an acorn given a little time.
